Cognizant is a good company to work with provided you are mapped to a good project, otherwise it is not easy to shuffle within the company later. Enjoy!!

Dislikes

There should be some good mechanism to evaluate associates performance who are working with different teams and mapped to different projects sometimes with onsite team and client site also, all in all I could say they need to improve there way of communication with associates and bring some more clarity.

I see employees are being treated as business objects.As long as they are usual,they will will be in the company.Unrealistic appraisal system to put employees forcefully into non-performing buckets which supports the company to save funds. In some accounts, no work estimations.On-site manager commites timeline with client without negotiations and pressure on offshore team to deliver soon to impress client.No worklife balance. Job security, career growth, salary/appraisal, work environment, work-life balance(50 hours in a week, but now client assumes 70 hours in a week). And while serving the notice period they don't allow any leave, even though if you have sick leave in balance and you are seriously ill(I took leave coz suffering from serious issues and they asked me to send whole blood test results, doctor prescription, medicines name & their video/pic, etc. The company is very greedy now, very bad policies implementation, bench period 30 calendar days, so now the priority is to enter any project irrespective of your skill set....Read More

Upper management works purely on lobby, if you are not billable however working for proposals etc and buttering managers you will survive however for billable and working hard and getting recognized from client they don't give shit, you will not get promoted in next 100 years also. When I see VPs and senior leadership exiting I believe ceo should look upon those duffers who get promoted from M to SM and Sm to AD even though the account is drowning and client is getting rid of Cognizant, however those countful people who are still billable by client will get peanuts at the end of appraisal cycles with no promotion getting excuse of HR quota everytime....Read More

People are nice but they are leaving company. There are no night shift jobs. If you get onsite then it will be permanant.

Dislikes

Workforce management is not good. If you are more than 41 days on benchbthen you will be terminated. Nobody will find job for you when you are onnbench. Non billable managers gives their work to you. Old manager do not know technology. Regionally biased so you miss opportunities.

It is good but offer letter has clause to allow work for any 10 hours in a day. Now working is 10 hours which makes life difficult.

Low job security, low rating even if you are a critical resource,useless trainings are made mandatory,tortures if you on bench. No onsite , wrong profile allocation later blamed on not working on expected

Cognizant being my first company had to act like a parent who supports a newborn child but it has done just the opposite. The only thing to like about it is I was able to manage to stick to it for more than 6.5 years without proper hike or promotions on time.

There are 'N' number of things to dislike about Cognizant but people who support cognizant will start to say I might have been a very bad performer and hence I am talking ill about the company which is absolutely not the fact. To all those, I gotta say you firstly a very poor performer cant stay more than 6.5 years in the same company and you might be in a different situation in a different project but this experience is solely based on my experience and I am no poor performer, believe it or not I was able to get a 200% better pay in a span of 6 months after I left Cognizant. Few things I would like to present out of the 'N': 1. The Project managers 'Most' of them, are self cerntric and decide on who is to be promoted next in their own will and there is no clue who governs it and on what basis. 2. Career growth will be stagnant if you choose to stay in a support project. 3. Even if you wish to move to a different domain by upskilling yourself, the management doesnt let you do it unless you wanna quit the company or just stop doing any kind of work and the project manager decides to release you with a bad rating. 4. Onsite opportunity is like getting 1kg of mutton during covid lockdown on a sunday which never happens unless you know the mutton shop owner personally and know his whereabouts and he is ready to take the risk of offering you the mutton despite the lockdowns 5. Career advise: If you are put into a support project, no matter what happens try to get out of it ASAP even if your job is at stake. Do whatever it takes to come out of it and find a better opportunity if not within cognizant, search elsewhere you will definitely find a better one. But before doing this, make sure to upskill yourself or you may land yourself in gutter....Read More
