If you get a good project, the clients are great. You get to interact with them on a daily basis and they are not too pushy.

Dislikes

The management 1. They give very minimal hike and during your appraisal cycle they change your PeM. The new PeM don't even know what my rating is and doesn't even discuss about it. In my 3 yrs with IBM I had discussion after I put my papers only as it coincides with Appraisal Cycle. And in 3 years I got 1 hike only. Rest of the time due to PeM change, I couldn't even know the reason for 0 hike. 2. Work Life balance - they say they have rules about having a strict work life balance. They have some unnecessary processes which take away most of your time. 3. Manager interaction - I would say 0. They have some internal politics and they just give least benifits to hardest working person. 4. Rewards and recognition - when you are doing a tough project, they will be like this guy is putting so much effort. We have to give him something and they give 1000-2000 just to motivate. Once the project is done, no appreciation, no mail mentioning the work done. Nothing 5. Retention - they do politics here as well. They told whatever you get we will match. But when I went with the request of my expectations. They didn't even bother and said maximum we can give 40%. Once you put paper don't look back. 6. GDP and PA- they have to distribute the amount within the team equally. TL is paid less than rest of the team. And most of the time it is chillar I have put in way too much work for my Hike percent. And other people who don't have skillset have reaped rewards....Read More

The management is very bad, especially the people sitting at band 8 and band 9. They treat you like robots. I worked for 18 hours daily for 3 months including Saturdays and Sundays. Client was FAB(First abudhabi bank). The IBM management did not intervene for exploiting the employees. even they called any time of day and night to know the status. they wanted everything to be completed in a day. Their were escalations everyday, they know its not work of one person atleaset 10 developers would be required to complete that to it would take 2 weeks. that work they wanted me to complete alone in 1 week. I want for family outing one sunday, they totally ruined my vacation by calling again and again, when you will login. One day suddenly they informed that you are out of project 5 days back and you can stop working from today. I was like hell why you informed 5 days later. In terms of promotions they did not give any promotion in 3 years. the variable pay component was 0-15 %, It comes around 3.5 lakhs yearly- In the first year i got 35 thousand, 2nd year i got 1L25 thousand, 3rd year-0 . Dont expect variable in IBM, Out of frustration , i put down my resignation, I wanted early release but not they are saying to pay for notice period buyout, although i am on bench for last 2 months. I got lucky with H1B visa, but they did not give any US project for one year. they don't have good projects....Read More

No HR and manager is god here. Hike are not at all provided or minimal hikes of 2 to 3 percent only. Manager pushes not to take more than 3 to 4 leaves in a quarter. Manager is so much powerful that you cannot complain to anyone about him as well. All old folks managing the command and thinking they will take care of cutting edge technologies themselves and treat people came from outside as the freshers.
