Employer’s Response
Dear HSCian, We are glad that you atleast found HSC’s Gurugram campus to be “good”. It seems that you have already made up your mind on disliking your organisation for your comments lack any context, are vague & generic and misleading. HSC as an organisation is CMMI Level 5 certified and became the first company globally to be appraised at Maturity Level 5, in the combined benchmarking appraisal for the three domains of Development, Services and People. By extension, an organization with “poor” management, inefficient HR cannot sustain or exist and create a legacy since the last 18 years as we have done. When you say that HSC is working on older technologies, kindly note that with three state-of-the-art R&D centres, we are working on multiple projects using the latest Digital Technologies like Cloud, AI & ML, NoSQL/SQL databases, Microservices architecture, Spring boot, Angular, React, Python, Django, Selenium. In Wireless we are working on most cutting-edge work in the 5G, O-RAN, Software Defined Radio, LTE, M-plane, Network Function Virtualization and satellite communication, Embedded development using C, Linux, Microcontroller, RPA etc. HSC being an Engineering Services Organization, constant learning of new technologies and staying abreast with the latest advancement is an integral part of the organization. There is a Learning Plan that every engineer puts together as part of their Yearly objectives. Also had you have had a conversation regarding your learning aspirations with your manager before taking to the public platform, they would have directed you towards the Centers of Excellence, where in you can learn and interact with likeminded engineers to work & innovate on technology of your choice. At HSC, our dedicated Learning & Development team also conducts training seminars & workshops for engineers on a regular interval and for which one can nominate themselves. We also conduct monthly Tech Talks, which facilitate learning of newer technologies. The opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies with global clients and learning from the best tech minds by working alongside, HSC offers an all-round learning experience with positive long-term effects on the growth of every HSCian. We urge you to kindly talk to your manager, engineering group head, the engineering head or for that matter, Mr. Vinod Sood, MD, as we do not shy away from such conversations. You could have also leveraged the internal platforms like Amber, Q2M, Zero Hour etc. and share your suggestions anonymously, if you wish so. Nevertheless, we wish many more years of your happy association with us.

#There's nothing to like, the culture here has already made their clients treat HSC's employees very badly. #Would recommend you, to keep this job offer as your last resort.
#If you complain about anything be it client, salary, work-life balance, or responsibilities the only response you'll get is "We are CMMI Level 5, we have this and that certification, which implies we are the best company, hence we'll ignore you. #Worst salary benefits and appraisal. #Micromanagement with daily morning and evening standup calls #There's no EOD, as you are expected to support client day and night and attend multiple evening calls with clients after working hours, they don't want to waste money hiring employees for EST time for client support, day shift developers are expected to do that too, and to hide this they say we have flexible working hours.<mark style="background-color: #fff5e4;"> #Higher management is there in the company since its inception and they already know what is happing so doesn't matter who you complain to and what you complain about, things will remain the same</mark>. #Lots of documents on task reporting with minute details simply to micromanage #The worst daily task reporting software you could see in your life, it's called IPTS, it takes 2-3 days for an employee to fill in IPTS details every month and get it approved, this piece of software should be put in a museum to represent what a software bug is....Read More

Employer’s Response
Dear Anonymous, On July 09, 2023, an identical review was posted on this portal, also by a “Senior Software Engineer”. That review was deleted by the author after a point-by-point response was made by the management. The probability of such a coincidence, at such short time indicates a pattern that the author seems to have resorted to now after having been confronted with all the facts and figures. We once again would like to highlight that all the comments that you have made in your review only go on to showcase nobody else but only you in a bad light and highlights your unprofessional attitude. In the greater interest of providing clarity to the readers of this review, we will once again answer your misleading and vague comments. As you already know that we are a PCMM & CMMi Level 5 certified organization, please also note that there are only a handful of organisations in the world which HSC is a part of. The very fact that you are oblivious to the importance that this feat holds for an organization also speaks volumes about your industry and organizational knowledge. Being a PCMM & CMMi Level 5 certified organisation also means that the organisation is equipped with proper framework & policies in place to ensure that our people are treated well and respected at all levels and at all times which is above & beyond acknowledging it in one’s organizational school of thought. An organization on a growth path for more than 16 years cannot sustain this competitive market if its clients “treat HSC’s employees badly” and would surely not continue to retain them if that was the case. As mentioned in our earlier response also, some of our clients have been with us since our inception and that is only possible if there is mutual respect for each other. Your claim is not substantiated and backed by any fact whereas we have our strong client associations speaking for themselves. At HSC, we walk the talk when it comes to following the open-door policy. HSCians across departments and hierarchy are always encouraged to talk to their managers, engineering group head, engineering head or for that matter even our MD, Mr. Vinod Sood. They can also share their concerns or suggestions through internal platforms like Amber, Q2M, Zero Hour, My Ideas Matter etc. Even though you have already made up your mind that there is “nothing to like”, we advise you to utilize any of the platforms mentioned above in case you haven’t done so. Also, we would like to reiterate that we have never in the past or present either advertised or aspired as such to be in the topmost quartile as far as compensation is concerned. Our benefits package along with people centric work environment, an enabling family like culture and opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies for global customers makes us one of the best companies to work for in our industry. Our long-term association with employees lasting more than 16 years or the fact that the median tenure year is 5.6 years at HSC also provides credentials to the kind of culture that we offer and the compensation and benefits that comes alongwith it. Unlike your claim without any fact or basis, we can back our culture, people and policies with facts. Contrary to your comment that we “ignore” the concerns of our employees, employee centricity acts as a cornerstone to our foundational values. But yes, we do agree that sometimes while chasing deadlines for certain projects, the timelines between our professional and personal lives gets blurred just like any other software and engineering services company. That is why HSC has a policy on flexible working hours, which by definition, explains that we do not observe strict office timings. Flexi Time policy helps ensure that HSCians get break to rejuvenate themselves after extended hours. Only if you would have had taken the time and effort to know your organisation more. Also, your comments once again show your limited knowledge of the processes and the ITES sector as a whole. A review should be written with the intent of helping fellow readers. But unfortunately, your review carries sweeping generic statements that are without any basis, facts. Some of the review comments sadly reflect on the learning skills of reviewer itself. There seems to be difficulty in accomplishing a simple task of filling the IPTS! Even when managers & team members are always there to clarify and are themselves too filling it up. With launch of our new app in December 2022, it hardly takes minutes to update the task list now. But of course, you left that part out in your review. For the benefit of the readers, we have responded in detail to each of your comments about HSC. It may be prudent to do some introspection & work on your own improvement areas as well. Thank you.

Dear HSCian, Thank you for sharing your approving review on Hughes Systique’s employee centric policies and culture. The culture that you have favorably reviewed has been very carefully created and curated since our inception. Comments such as yours reassure us that we are on the right path. Everything depends on which technology and client you are working with, the company is very understanding, and management is good, if you work on internal projects, you will get a feel of working for a product-based company. No cons as such.
The typical role-based growth, if frontend you will be stuck in Front-end only, the environment of development is slow as hell for some projects, and you have to use shared machines, which sometimes irritates you. Their time sheet filling system takes more than 4 hours, they should change the process. More processes than development. Thanks...Read More

Employer’s Response
Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your approving review on the opportunities, latest technology and the management of Hughes Systique. We are glad that you have found working at HSC to be a beneficial experience. However, addressing a few points from your review’s “dislikes” section, we would like through you the readers of the review to note that as an organization we believe in continuous learning and growth of our engineers. For the uninformed, HSC supports inter-project movements where engineers have an opportunity to work in areas of their interest. It is our sentiment to support the engineers who take the initiative on themselves for their learning & growth, with the organization providing them all the support that they need. The “doers” always stand out. Nonetheless, on a broader and organisational level, every year the learning objectives and plans for the current year are agreed with the manager & supported by HR. The learning could happen through the year in multiple ways – Classroom training, Online trainings, Reading Books/Papers, etc, on on-job assignments. Engineers are encouraged to take online courses & certifications, and on successful completion all cost is completely refunded by HSC. Kindly also note that the Centres Of Excellence (CoEs) publish assignments & PoC that can be taken up by engineers along with the regular work to learn technology areas. For your comment on processes, they provide us a framework for development and having practices to monitor progress & ensure timely completion of work. We continuously review process to ensure that processes are not an overhead, remove redundant processes and wherever possible automate the processes. Finally, addressing your observation on the “timesheet”, we hope you have noticed that with the new update and the launch of the app in December 2022, the time taken to fill in the timesheet has been reduced to seconds. We would have encouraged you to talk to your manager, engineering group head or engineering had you continued working with us and learn more about the CoEs & other learning avenues at HSC to help clear your misunderstanding. But nevertheless, we wish you the best and thank you for your contributions at HSC.

Employer’s Response
Dear HSCian, We would like to start by thanking you for sharing your positive review on the learning opportunities provided at Hughes Systique. We would also like to thank you for rating us fairly in the category of Job Security, which has unfortunately become a rarity in the sector we work in. Addressing the dislikes section of your review, we would like you to know that HSC is not only an equal opportunity employer but is also a PCMM & CMMi Level 5 organisation. As an extension of that, all our decisions, interactions and departments are also governed by a set of policies and procedures which guides us and also ensures that everybody is treated the same way, irrespective of their hierarchy, department or the duration of association. Your remark that ‘management only likes & believes who are there since the beginning and will stay there for their life’ is sweepingly generic to be true. But you are always encouraged, like all HSCians, to talk to your manager, engineering group head, engineering head or for that matter, to Mr. Vinod Sood, MD, as we do not shy away from such conversations. You can also share your concerns and suggestions through our internal platforms like Amber, Q2M, Zero Hour etc., and anonymously, if you wish to do so. We look forward to many more years of happy association with you.

Employer’s Response
Dear HSCian, Thank you for your approving review on HSC’s culture of employee centricity, which enables all our employees to balance their professional & personal lives while working on some of the most cutting-edge technologies & ample of opportunities. Before addressing the dislikes section of your review, we would like you to understand how the appraisal cycle works at HSC. We are an equal opportunity employer; compensation, fitments & revisions are independent of gender, ethnicity, age, colour & nationality etc. Constant feedback is shared with employees through the year. Compensation is reviewed once every year in April based on the performance of the employee, salary band for that role/grade and are aligned with the market offering for the respective skill set. Also, when you say that there is “no proper monitoring of employees”, it lacks any context and does not provide a clear picture. At HSC, we have over the years created and curated a culture of employee centricity which also acts as the cornerstone of our foundational values. Since we have an open-door policy, our employees are always encouraged to talk to their managers, engineering group head or engineering head for that matter if they require any guidance or feedback. As HSC is a PCMM & CMMi Level 5 certified organisation, all of our departments and engagements are guided by a clearly defined framework, policies and procedures for talent management & engagement. Every employee is bound to have a 1v1 meeting with their managers and in every few months with their skip-level managers. Using internal platforms like Q2M, Zero Hour, Amber etc. employees can always share their concerns and suggestions with the management. While our dedicated Learning & Development team schedules various comprehensive trainings from time to time with active inputs from Engineering, employees can always talk to their managers as trainings can be self-recommended or be recommended by managers in consultation with the employee regarding his/her aspirations, role expectations or project requirements. In addition to that we also have Tech Talks which facilitates learning of newer technologies and a fully stocked & updated library with books ranging from technology to management. Then there are the Centers of Excellence, where employees can learn and interact with like-minded engineers to work & innovate on technology of their choice. While we promote learning and are always there to provide guidance, monitoring in terms of constant micromanaging is not what we encourage at HSC. Wishing many more years of your happy association with us.

Employer’s Response
Dear HSCian, We would like to start by thanking you for your valuable contributions at HSC. It is also encouraging to know that you have found work flexibility, learning opportunities and also the latest tech that HSCians work in. Coming to the dislikes section of your review, we are sure that even you would agree that an organization with “weak management” would not be on the growth path that HSC has been since its inception. It is because of our dynamic leadership and management team that has not only contributed immensely to the culture of employee centricity at HSC but has also led the team through times of adversity including a global pandemic. We would also like you to know that when it comes to job security, we always stand thick and thin with our employees and even with all the noise about “restructuring of teams” we are seeing currently with the sector, HSC has never believed in the practice of layoffs. Also, we have never in the past or present either advertised or aspired as such to be in the topmost quartile as far as compensation is concerned. Our benefits package along with people centric work environment, an enabling family like culture and opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies for global customers makes us one of the best companies to work for in our industry. If you still have any concerns or suggestions then you can share it through the internal platforms like Amber, Q2M, My Ideas Matter etc. or talk to your manager, engineering group head or engineering head for that matter. Nevertheless, we wish many more years of your happy association with us.

Dear HSCian, Thank you for your approving review on HSC’s culture of “Respectful Environment”. The said culture has been very carefully created and curated since our very inception. Addressing the dislikes section of your review, we would like you to understand that the managers take it on themselves balancing quality deliverables to the customers, helping team members’ grow and ensuring a healthy work life balance & over all work life wellbeing of the team members. To accomplish this and remain both a preferred services partner & an employer of choice, there are times when managers need to closely monitor as well as guide certain members of the team who might be in need of support & guidance, to ensure timely adherence to deadlines. What you may have perceived as micromanagement, could have been your manager’s way of lending a helping hand by going out of their way to make sure that the team and the team member, as a whole, succeed in the project. We would also suggest you to have a discussion with your manager to share your observations, concerns & feedback and at the same time confirm in that discussion to better understand the expectations in terms of protocols, outcomes and timelines. You can also talk to your engineering group head or engineering head for we walk the talk when it comes to following the open-door policy. We wish many more years of your happy association with us. We thank you for appreciating the scrumptious lunch that HSC Cafeteria serves, on the house. We’ll pass your compliments to the admin team. Now, allow us to delve a little deeper on your scathing observation in the dislike section and provide the audience with a clearer picture of the same. We are surprised with the extremely limited knowledge that you seem to have about HSC and the technologies that we work in, in spite of being a part of HSC for 2+ yrs. We are dismayed with the level of generalization in your statement when you say, “Most of the managers & TLs are from C++ background and have no knowledge of java” – which implies that HSC is working successfully for customer projects without managers & TLs who have Java expertise! Let us help you get a correct perspective of what HSC is. More than half of the development work at HSC is in Enterprise Application development using Java, JS & J2EE related technologies. There are multiple on-going projects where we are working with the latest Java releases including Java 12/13, Spring frameworks, React JS &; Angular JS latest releases for UI / Front end development and current best practices related to Micro services, DevOps (Kubernetes, Dockers, etc.). These technologies are getting applied in projects related to Telecom (esp. for OSS/BSS related development), Retail (Footfall Analytics, etc.), Hospitality (WiFi onboarding etc.), IOT (Home Security Applications, etc.), Video Streaming/OTT (Quality of Experience &; Content Management System, Learning Management System, etc.). Apart from this, HSC works on AI/ML enabled enterprise applications and in data & image/video analytics. At HSC, we also use C/C++ related technologies extensively in projects related to Wireless (4G, 5G, Satellite communication) Protocol development, Telecom applications (such as Call Control, Resource Management, etc.), Embedded systems including Platform development, Multimedia OTT players, Security, etc. Languages like Python, Go, etc. are also used in development related work on AI/ML, Test Automation & Blockchain, etc. All this development is for HSC customers, Inhouse Products, Solutions and Accelerators development. With reference to the remark that you made about signing a ‘ Bond’, we want to make it very clear to you and through you, all those who aspire to join HSC in future that there is no bond that any HCSian is made to sign. We strongly suggest you refrain from blatantly making such false statements.

Employer’s Response
Dear HSCian, Thank you for reviewing us fairly and highly on parameters affecting the work culture of an organisation like Job security, skill development, Work satisfaction and salary & benefits. Even though you contradict yourself by rating us poorly on work life balance but terming the work environment as stress free, we are thankful to your review. Coming to the “dislikes” section of your review, we find the choice of language to be highly unprofessional and something that showcases your professional maturity and the criticism as vague and misleading. Most of the times people and project managers are working in the interest of the team and the project. What you might have construed as favouritism might have been the case where the manager knows which solution or approach is better, or who needs to be assigned a certain kind of work for a particular duration and identifying individuals who can handle the work at client site better. HSC is a PCMM & CMMi Level 5 certified organisation with a proven track record of over 16 years. An organisation with such legacy definitely cannot perform at the level we are performing with an “Inverted Structure”. Your review stating, “4-5 Managers/Developer”, is lacking context or any background upon which we can respond. This could be a case of misunderstanding; hence, we request you to kindly reach out to your Engineering Group Head or Engineering Head and talk to your reporting manager for better clarity. We would also like the readers of the review to know through you that, at HSC we have internal platforms like Amber, Q2M, Your Ideas Matter etc. through which HSCians can share their concerns and suggestions, even anonymously if they wish so. We wish many more years of your happy association with us nevertheless. Thank you

Dear HSCian, We are glad that at HSC you are able to maintain a healthy balance between your personal and professional lives. Also, thank you for reviewing us fairly on Job Security, an aspect that we are sure is quite valued, especially in the current landscape. Coming to the dislikes section of your review, we would like you to know that at HSC there are multiple internal platforms through which HSCians can share their concerns or suggestions be it Amber, Q2M, Zero Hour, My Ideas Matter etc. Employees are also encouraged to talk to their managers, engineering group head, engineering head or for that matter Mr. Vinod Sood, MD, whose doors are always open to HSCians across departments and irrespective of hierarchy. A PCMM & CMMi Level 5 certified organization, we are among a handful of organizations to have been certified as such. An organization with a management “unwilling” to listen to its employees cannot be on the growth path that we have been on since our inception. Your statement not only lacks context but also comes across as misleading and vague. You can still share your precise concern instead of publishing a misleading sweeping statement about HSC’s Management and we will guide or share with you the other aspect of the situation. While HSC does its best to accommodate special requests and address the concerns of its employees, there will be situations (as would be the case with any organisation) where even the best possible solution after considering best interests of all, may not meet 100% expectations of a single employee. Employer’s Response
Dear HSCian, Thank you for your positive review on HSC’s inclusive, supportive and open work environment. Coming to the “Dislikes” section of your review, even though highly unusual given that each engineer’s growth and development is tracked by their managers on a regular basis, we advise you to kindly approach your manager, engineering group head or engineering head to get your concern addressed as we walk the talk when it comes to our open-door policy. We would like you to know that we have many on-going projects or R&D initiatives & projects, in which you can work on. Also, there are projects on-going in all domains that we work in and in addition, we have R&D initiatives/projects planned in all the domain that we work in. We have plenty of opportunities to learn & grow, please be assured of that. We wish many more years of your happy association with us. Thank you.
