I got my H1B visa approved then they put me on bench. They have given very less performance rating just because my H1B got approved. If You need promotion then you have to take release from current project.

Colleagues are good and very co-operative.

Dislikes

There is a lack of work-life balance, a poor work culture, and ineffective leadership management. While some managers are supportive, others practice excessive micromanagement. Leave approvals are rarely granted, and the work environment is highly demanding. Being on the bench puts you in the red zone, whereas being in a project offers job security.

Never ever join cognizant those who have had technical skills, dreams to thrive in career also have family responsibilities as Cognizant job security is Zero. Projects are surrendered and handled by incapable management. Anytime one can be off boarded from project even though performing well.

The most I disliked is the annual hikes which is just peanuts. They have given 3-5% hikes to all the employees ( 5% was the maximum hike given to the top performers, rest all got 3-4%. Management forced us to work on weekends from office which could have been easily managed from home as no one comes on weekends and feels like I am in graveyard, and the entire bay remains empty.

Cognizant have lot of job opportunities and provide nice pay according to market standards. People working in cognizant can switch to other technology and work on it.

Hikes are very less when compare to other companies. Due to internal politics talented people efforts are recognised.

Work life balance is good. Job satisfaction is also fair. Company pays fair enough. I am not satisfied or I should say I am not impressed with the appraisal procedure implemented by the management. Post 1 year no appraisal at all or the performance bonus. They have their own way of doing it in the month of July or August and it doesn’t matter when you have completed 1 year.

It is good for beginners, avoid going into support project as they will make you work even on your sick days off. And HR wont help in this case either.

Work-life balance is close to non-existant. Really poor promotion cycles. No help from anyone if the project shuts down, you will have to look for another one on your own , else they will remove you. Used to pay fairly but is now as good as literally any other company like TCS, Infosys in terms of both work quality and compensation. No real way to move vertically based on merit unlike TCS.

Seniors and team leader are very toxic. Seniors scold very badly to freshers even if you don't small mistake. They will call you anytime other than shift timings for their convenience. They are pressuring to complete your work before the shift timings. There is no work life balance

If ur manager is good and have guiding nature and judges u on the basis of work, u r soo lucky else u will have praise them(iykyk).

So much of internal politics goes on. My manager has pulled her brother into the same project and he has been been promoted to associate within very time irrespective of his work. His work quality is very poor. And during client meeting also, he was not able to convey his deliverables properly. The client was not at all satisfied and irrespective of all this he got promotion this time.

the unwanted politics amongst seniors to bully their juniors, i was kind of harassed by newly appoiinted manager. Supercedness by seniors; ignoring the situations, dedicatedly commiting on everything to the client requirement without consulting with team members who actually knows what the scenario and work is.
