Promotion and hikes are based on buttering skills, favoritism and not on the hard work. Hardworking employees often end up with more tasks, while others work for few hours a day. I would say this whole-ly depends on the client and the team you end up in. The people you work with on a daily basis, the developers you interact with, the testers and POs. In terms of work ethic and deliverable quality, I feel I work with the best minds in this team, and that makes me want to become and push my skillset.
The team you work with, work life balance goes in a shambles. Zero Socializing, teams meets, anything that isnt work, doesnt have space on the calendar of the team i work in. Been with this current client of mine for close to 2 years and i haven't met anyone from the team, other than knowing what they sound like, i have no clue about them. Being paid in peanuts, not meeting people, weekends are workdays at times.
