HCL used to be one of the best organization's and my favorite but last 6 years of my employment in HCL were eye opener and made me believe that I should have left this organization then only. Believe me HCL is now in discussion for employee exploitation and Female employee are reluctant to join HCL because of fear physical harassment.
Teammates are fabulous and very friendly, Training opportunities are ample but given to only those who are close to managers or doing favours to them, Appraisals are biased and influenced by parameters like employee region and community .." My manager was from Bihar and always appraise employees from Bihar with top ratting irrespective of their performance and when we raised the concerns we were forced to be kept quiet" In fact I was forced to absorb his cousins in Account and groomed them though that was against the company policy. extensive interference by the manager in our personal life ruined the work- life balance as we were forced to join his political rallies on weekends and saying NO to such events were impacting our appraisals. Level of harassment we go through can be understood from the fact that we were forced to favor my manager by giving him expensive gadgets and electronic devises such as Laptop, Apple watches, donations to his/friends NGO, not only this he used foul language about female employees and even SXLY harass them.. female employee was harassed to the level that she had to formally complain against him to her manager but for some reasons the case was not reported to HR. I don't know if such feedback really matters as I already highlighted this to the HR while leaving the organization but I think such people must not be allowed to work in HCL no matter how close they are to senior HR or Leadership its just the company and its employees who will suffer at the end.. Everything especially the appraisal process. Leadership thinks that offering 1% to 4% as annual appraisal increase will people satisfied. The sense gets more absurd when external resources are hired at 25-30% at bought to sit with you. Liers, in press conferences they said appraisals will be given to employees in OCTOBER while they have not even provided it till December and is expected to move forward to JAN OR FEB which was earlier expected for July. In short since 2 years no appraisals. Moreover forget about appraisals, they will even cut your EPB component. They don’t even have any process for deciding EPB payout, they randomly decide it. If you want a safe job where you dont get laid off, then this is a good company. They give you a healthy work life balance.
Forget about appraisals, hikes or bonuses. In 2 years i got zero hike. When they change project they could change your base location even without your consent. I was hired as an automation engineer but later i had to switch to linux System Engineer role.
