What's there not to dislike. Biggest issue is that there's no HR to raise ur concerns to. All they have is a portal and that too just for show.

It may vary project to project and management to management. My previous project experience is very bad due to the management only. My current project , client and management is quite good.

Here HR’s don’t even listen to our problems. When we need help from HR’s they don’t even respond to our messages or mail but when they need something from us they directly call us. Here, TMP team will say you will get project but when our bench time ends they force us to take up service desk projects by lying you can change projectafter 6 months. They treat us like we are some garbage and they quickly want to throw us in some garbage pot. These service desk project team leads are uneducated, don’t know how hiring happens. I work in software testing as an automation plus manual tester. Nowadays there are many manual testers don't have opportunities in projects because projects are looking for those candidates who works in both! And what cognizant is doing that they show the client that candidate has experienced in both auto and manual and share fake profile with them. They just take normal interviews and select us. But once you get the projects, you will have lot of work which you never did earlier. And continuous work pressure will be there. Due to this there is no work life balance at all. We need to available with clients timings. I would request you my friends that if you don't know some things or not aware about any technology then just say no to the interview. They will surely prepare you from interview perspective but the work is not easy as we think. Once you get the client project then they won't even ask you how it's going.. I joined Cognizant as a fresher and it’s a best place for starting your career. Culture is very good maybe because of company USA origin. I got good ratings for my hard work without any politics.

Dislikes

Salary and hike is low. Waiting period for promotion is so high even though if you have top year end rating.

There are many points 1. promotion criteria which is worst in all mnc. 2. salary hike is negligible. 3. even there is no such activities happened which makes you motivated through out the year.

Overall typical service based company, with lower appraisal %, ideal to stay for 3 years max, else growth would be stopped compared to market and you will be in comfort zone.

Dislikes

Appraisal cycle is worst, they do rating in Dec month and release in Jan, but appraisal will be in impact from June salary. Promotion is a problem here, and you will have to cry every year. It takes minimum 3 years once u r at one level to expect promotion.

Salary comes on time. Leaves also gets approved easily.

Dislikes

No work life balance. No projects in company so they silently fires. Not so good culture. Not so get promotion(1-5%hike only) or no benefits (whole year). Not that much bonus yearly.
