To File or Not to File?
I'm a 20-year-old student who started investing in MFs a few months ago with my pocket money. I also receive some pocket money through UPI and have a couple of FDs in my name.
Recently, I landed an internship that'll pay me around 20k per month.
Should I file an ITR now, or can I wait?
Any advice would be super helpful!

Never give loan to anyone in your company.
During my time at my previous company, I found myself in a challenging and toxic situation. My boss, who I trusted, took a loan of Rs. 4.27 lakh from me over the course of four months. Since I wasn't on the company's official payroll, he didn't prioritize repaying the money. I was left feeling helpless, as my repeated requests for repayment were ignored. It wasn’t until I reached a breaking point and emotionally pleaded for my money that he reluctantly returned part of it.
Ultimately, I left the company, driven by the same issues—my boss’s lack of integrity and the toxic work environment created by certain colleagues. In hindsight, I regret spending a year at this company, as not only did I lose precious time, but I also suffered a financial loss of Rs. 1.50 lakh.
Now, as I look ahead, I find myself jobless and reflecting on the lessons I've learned from this experience. What should I do to get my money back ?

How is New Delhi Costlier than Bangalore???
I live in Gurgaon as a Bachelor in a shared flat and here are my regular monthly expenses,
Rent - ₹ 15,000 p.m
Food/ Groceries - ₹ 4,000 p.m
Transportation - ₹3,000 p.m
Utilities - ₹ 4,000 p.m
Househelp - ₹ 3,000 p.m
Entertainment & Others - ₹ 15,000 p.m (includes eating out, gym membership etc.)
SIP- ₹ 5000 p.m
EMIs( iPhone, Car,etc.)- 25000 p.m
Total expenses : ₹ 74,000 p.m or ₹8,88,000 per year
And with that being shared, I can 1000% say that Bangalore would be a lot costlier than this. Idk how these ratings were calculated.
Which city you're in, and how much is your cost of living monthly?

Being a salaried employee is a curse in India!
Salaried Employee: ₹5 crore - Income Tax: ₹1.5 crore
Business Revenue: ₹10 crore - Income Tax: ₹20-40 lakh

After a long 14-year journey, I'm finally debt-free!
I started working back in 2010, juggling two educational loans, a personal loan, a car loan, and a few loans to family members. It's been a tough ride, but yesterday, I paid off my last installment.
Today marks the first day of my debt-free life, and I couldn't be more excited!

2 lakh+ Kirana stores shut due to Zepto, Blinkit !!!
Recently read the article which says that approx 2 lakh+ kirana stores have been shut down in last few years after the arrival of quick commerce platforms like Zepto, Blinkit and Instamart.
Even Flipkart has launched their own quick commerce platform now.
Do you think its a good thing for our country in the long run?

ESOPs don’t always work, but when they do its magical🌟
5000 Swiggy employees made around 9000 crores in the IPO
Some of them would have even made 100 crore plus
Many many more would have made 10 crore plus
And
Many Many Many Many more would have made 1 crore plus.
So many people became crorepatis just overnight.
This changed my entire perspective regarding ESOPs.
Gonna accpet every ESOP offer now onwards!

Spending 50k just for FOMO?
A friend of mine recently bought Coldplay ticket for 20k. Further, to attend the concert he will be travelling from Chennai to Mumbai for the show and spending at least 30k-35K more on the flight tickets.
We were on a call yesterday, where he was telling me about this and randomly I asked him about his favorite song of the band and he went point blank! He tried to name some random song but eventually confessed that he hasn't heard much Coldplay songs.
And that's the reality of a majority of people who are excited for the concert!
The FOMO of not doing something that you don't even enjoy is real.
The peer pressure to live a happening life on social media to get validation from others is real!
But is it really worth it?

Can We Make it Outside India on ₹4 Lakh/Month?
Hey everyone,
My wife and I are both fortunate enough to have remote jobs that let us work from anywhere. We're currently based in Bangalore, but we're dreaming of taking our work-life adventure to another country.
We're wondering if it's feasible to live comfortably in a foreign country with a combined monthly income of ₹5.5 lakh. After accounting for our EMIs and other fixed expenses, we're left with around ₹4 lakh per month.
So, the big question is: Can we make it work?
We're open to suggestions, advice, or personal experiences from anyone who's successfully made a similar move.

A Hard-Learned Lesson About Debt!
I’ve been in a tough spot lately and I wanted to share my story. I used to think I had my finances under control, but I quickly learned that credit card debt can spiral out of control.
I had a decent salary, but I started using credit cards for everything. Before I knew it, I had 20+ EMIs and was drowning in debt. It was a scary situation.
I finally decided to take action and consolidate my debt into a personal loan. It was a tough decision, but it was the right one.
Lesson learned: Don't let credit card debt take over your life. Be mindful of your spending and always have an emergency fund.

Reasonable % of TC going towards mortgage
Greetings!
I’m in the process of looking for our first home, in the Bay Area.
Planning on putting a 500k down payment and looking at my options for the price I’m willing to go with.
For under 1M the options in the city are either old flats or newly built condos with crazy HOA.
I’m wondering if I should go the extra mile and push closer towards 2M to get a house?😅😅
The 2M option is looking at a 12k/mo mortgage, which is almost all of my take home base salary (around 15k) and although I get significant RSUs I don’t feel secure about the more variable part of compensation. Like, I can control the bonus part by delivering good enough work, but the RSU part I can’t really control.
How do you plan around this?
What happens with mortgage if you lose your job, or you need a career break or something?
I feel good working hard today but I don’t think I’ll do the same for 30 years 😀

Monthly Expenses!
I'm curious about what it takes to maintain a middle-to-upper-middle-class lifestyle for a family. How much do you all typically spend each month on the following:
Rent or Mortgage: How much do you shell out for your home?
Groceries and Food
Entertainment: How much do you spend on movies, outings, and other fun activities?
Medical Expenses: What are your average healthcare costs?
Travel: How often do you travel, and what does it cost?
Do you have any other regular expenses, like gifts, electronics, or utilities? Let's share our experiences and get a better idea of what it takes to live comfortably.

Is There a Way to Celebrate Love Without Breaking the Bank?
I’ve worked really hard to build a good life for myself. I studied hard, got a good job, and saved money. But now, I’m worried about the cost of weddings. It seems like everyone expects big, expensive celebrations. This could ruin all my hard work. It’s frustrating to work so hard, pay high taxes, and still feel like I’m not succeeding. Middle-Income Couple Seeking Financial Advice
Hey everyone,
My wife and I are a middle-income couple in our late 30s living in a big city in India. We're trying to figure out how to make our money go further. We have a joint income of around 3 lakhs, but it always feels like we're just scraping by.
We're spending a lot on things like rent, childcare, and pet care. We also contribute to my mom's living expenses. We're hoping to move into a place we own in a few years, which will help us save on rent.
Do you have any tips on how we can manage our money better? We're worried that we're too late to start saving properly😓

2.5 Lakh Investment in a MacBook with 4 LPA Salary!
Hi guys, my younger brother has recently started his corporate career almost an year back and he's working at a minimal salary of 4 LPA.
He is keen on buying a macbook worth 2.5 LPA on EMI, as he has a youtube channel as a side hustle and feels that this device is necessary for his channel's growth regarding editing and stuff.
How do I make him understand that buying something worth more than half your annual salary is a foolish decision.
He even denies to take any monetary help and is rigid on buying it with his own money.
Any help is appreciated :-(

Portfolio advice for my sister🙏
My sister is now 37 and got out of a bad marriage. She's joined the workforce again. Currently she has no savings. She makes about 15 LPA in had and has 1 lakh per month to save. She lives with me and my family and has limited expenses.
My parents had bought a plot of land in her name which is the only real estate she has. She demanded no alimony or payment after the divorce as we were just glad to be rid of the husband and there were too many complications. We took back whatever gifts & gold she had with her and that's it.
Currently she has:
One plot of land in the outskirts (valued about Rs. 1 crore) which will grow slowly and we don't want to sell.
Rs. 1 lakh per month to save/invest
A decent medical insurance cover
Some gold
Our idea was to put Rs. 50,000 in an RD for the next two years and the balance 50k in UTI Nifty 50.
Is this advisable?

Was Buying a Pre-Owned Car the Right Choice?
I recently took the plunge and bought my first car, a 2014 Honda Brio. While I didn't need a car, I felt it was time to step into the role of the family driver. I purchased it for 2.7 lakhs, putting down 70k and taking out a 3-year loan with monthly EMIs of around 6000.
I've estimated fuel costs to be around 6000 per month as well. With a monthly income of 1.1 lakhs, I plan to pay off the loan early using my bonus next year. So far, so good. However, I've been feeling a bit pinched since the extra 12k has been coming out of my account each month. To make ends meet, I've had to cut back on my investments by the same amount.
I live in a rented apartment and have no other loans. My credit cards are always paid in full, and I have around 75k left after rent, utilities, car expenses, and groceries. I'm currently investing 30k in two mutual funds (15k each) and 25k in an ELSS.
I'm wondering if I'm on the right track. Should I make some adjustments to my lifestyle?

Renting vs Purchasing?
I feel renting a flat/house is much more beneficial especially in the early career stage when you are expected to relocate based on your job.
And then eventually buying an house as an investment for future generations in your late thirties.

High EMIs: Is It a Smart Move?
I'm thinking of buying a 2BHK in Mumbai, but the prices are sky-high! I'm looking at flats that are a bit small, but they're still going for around 2-2.4 crores.
Since I don't have that much saved up, I'm planning to take out a loan of at least 1.5 crores. Combined with the EMIs I'm already paying for another house, my total monthly EMIs would be around 45% of my and my wife's combined salary.
Do you think this is a good idea? I'm worried about having enough liquidity in case of an emergency. My wife does have some money invested in shares, though.
Any advice would be appreciated!

How to Pay for a Home: My Options and Dilemmas
I'm thinking about buying a home in a big city and it'll cost around 90 lakhs. I've saved up half the money already, but I need help figuring out how to pay for the rest. I have a few options:
Use my mutual funds and stocks: I could sell some of my investments.
Take money from my PF: I could withdraw money from my provident fund.
Get a home loan: I could borrow money from a bank.
A combination of these: I could do a mix of these options.

How Much Do You Invest?
I'm curious to know how others manage their finances. I used to have a monthly take-home of 1.75 lakhs, but it's now around 2.1 lakhs. Out of that, I allocated 70k to SIPs and 30k to stocks (through a small case).
On average, that's about 57% of my monthly income going towards investments. My current portfolio size is around 33.5 lakhs.

A Difficult but Necessary Choice!
It's heartbreaking to see a loved one struggle financially. For the past four years, my uncle has increasingly turned to me for loans, and the frequency of his requests has grown steadily.
I've always been generous, lending him money whenever he's needed and never asking for repayment. However, the total amount he currently owes me, around 87k, is equivalent to three months of my savings. This is a substantial sum that I can't afford to lose, especially as I've been diligently saving for my family's future.
Today, when he asked for another loan, I had to say no. It was a difficult decision, filled with guilt and sadness. I know he's facing a tough time, but I must put my family's needs first.
I've worked hard and saved a good amount I want to invest most of it and build a better future for my family.

Is Zomato too overvalued to enter right now?
I bought Zomato when it was in 60s and it has reached 200+. Though I like the money I have made, but I don’t see a sustainable business model here:
Food delivery commissions have made me switch to dining out. In the restraunts, I get a lower price as well as additional discounts on paying via Zomato
Quick commerce will become overcrowded and the dream margins will evaporate as soon as Flipkart and Reliance Industries enter . These players have a much higher bargaining power over manufacturers and can cut prices deeply.
Smart money is moving away with institutions selling Zomato and retail buying.
So should I hold or sell?

A Middle-Class Perspective on the Rat Race!
I've been noticing a lot of posts about people making tons of money and having huge net worths. It's made me think about my situation.
My parents always told me that having a roof over my head, food to eat, and no debt was a big deal. I believed them, but now I see some people doing much better.
I've worked hard, but saving up a decent amount of money has taken me a long time. I'm still nowhere near as wealthy as some people I know.
Getting caught up in the rat race and comparing yourself to others is easy. But I try to remember that everyone's situation is different.
I'm grateful for what I have, and I'm going to keep working hard. Maybe one day I'll be able to retire early and live a comfortable life.
