The Great Tech Migration: A Never-Ending Saga Every year, like clockwork, TDL went through its Annual Tech Migration—a sacred ritual where perfectly fine systems were replaced with newer, shinier ones that broke everything. This year was no different. The failure of Padila's plan of practising Flutter Web versus Tata Digital Web Architecture
Experiments on technology stack. Not listening to senior and juniors in a team. No clear roles and responsibilities. Forming internal commitee with HR and forcing people to shift to Flutter web. Misuse head of Architecture power and position to just danda maro things from a 10000 feet. Unnecessary over engineering of tech stack in web by bringing Flutter web. False promises were made to product and engineering team of less bugs. Same level of security, performance issues came up with Flutter web. After the failure of...Read More

I feel very secure at work. I am given ample opportunity to drive large projects and enough trust is placed in me to drive all my projects, and new initiatives. I am also provided with the support and tools to do my job well.
I think it is a new organisation that has undertaken a mammoth project that we are all going to be proud of some day. Right now since the company is new and is going through the stage of formation, there is from time to time some amount of extra responsibility and friction to drive things independently and at speed, so that we get it right. Sometimes this does take a toll, but it isn't unusual, and I'm sure over time, these things can only get better. A little more leadership connect is important....Read More

The work culture and teams are great! Your learning curve will always be on a high working with the cross functional teams.
The work pressure is high but it will only result into good results. New joiners will need to have patience because the processes are a bit slow. There is no induction so, a self starter approach is what you'll need here.

It is a Tata company, so it continues to attract some good people too.
The culture is quite poor. While the new CEO seems to have made efforts to change things, the overall work culture still isn't great, as a lot of the previous leadership continue. Hope Ratan Tata's passing, makes people remember his spirit and values, and what it means to be a Tata company. Right now, I guess I'm not sure if we can say that we are.

There exists a paucity of reasons for one to harbor any affection for this company.
In the realm of leadership, an unfortunate dearth of excellence prevails. Those entrusted with stewardship display a regrettable lack of proficiency. The delicate equilibrium between professional duties and personal well-being appears conspicuously absent. One might employ rather unsavoury language to describe the situation, going so far as to term it a lamentable quagmire. To add to the disquiet, official expenses remain unrequited. A discernible strategic void looms large, overshadowed by and excess of unproductive meetings. Regrettable, there exists a palpable deficiency in both reverence for and comprehension of the intricate artistry of software engineering. The product teams, it seems, are preoccupied with internal political machinations, harbouring a desire for its misfortune. The situation unfolds like an incessant and disconcerting game of musical chairs within the realm of assigning blame. Strategic vision and effective communication elude this establishment, preventing those they've engaged from executing their roles effectively. To put it mildly,it is disheartening abyss. One might even facetiously remark that the 'H' in HR has been rendered redundant....Read More

Job security but you will be taken as granted
One of the most noticeable issues I encountered at TDL was a perceived lack of integrity and professionalism in relation to performance appraisals. Unfortunately, the company's management consistently failed to deliver appraisals on time, leaving employees in a state of perpetual uncertainty. Moreover, promised appraisal dates were frequently changed without adequate explanations, causing further frustration and a lack of trust in the company's commitment to its workforce. Such unreliable practices create an atmosphere of doubt and demotivation, ultimately hindering employee growth and development. Furthermore, it was disheartening to observe that Tata Digital appeared to take its employees for granted. Despite the dedicated time, effort, and skills invested by employees to contribute to the company's success, they were often treated as mere dispensable assets. The company seemed to disregard the importance of recognizing and appreciating the hard work put forth by its workforce. This lack of acknowledgment can leave employees feeling undervalued and disengaged, severely impacting overall morale within the organization. Additionally, it became painfully apparent that TDL demonstrated a form of favoritism towards certain employees. This preferential treatment was evident through the job portal, where select individuals seemed to receive special privileges and opportunities that were not available to the rest of the employees. Such biased practices create a toxic work environment and erode trust among the staff, fostering resentment and a sense of inequality. This form of favoritism is detrimental to teamwork, collaboration, and the overall harmony of the workplace. In conclusion, my experience with Tata Digital has been marred by consistent delays in appraisals, a lack of appreciation for hardworking employees, and the blatant display of favoritism. These issues not only hindered my personal growth and motivation but also left a lasting negative impression on my overall experience with the company. I would kindly caution prospective employees to thoroughly consider these aspects before making a decision to join Tata Digital Limited....Read More

Nothing is good to talk about. Worst HR policies. HR is asking employees to leave voluntarily because they didn’t want to showcase its laidoff.
Worst leadership team. App is not working great. Very disappointing. People joined organisations because its Tata, but unfortunately Tata Digital is not applying in tata values. Tata gives jobs to who got laidoff but if you joined tdl you will get laidoff. Dont join ths organisation. Not employe centric company.

Only the Tata name
- Report oriented NOT result oriented ( nothing is working but my boss insists on mindless reports which are then dissected for lack of inanities ) - blame oriented not action oriented ( code is not released in time NOR is it effective but the focus is on whom to blame , mostly the lowest cog) - no one here, asks the questions “doesthis make sense to my business ?” “ will this add to my long term or short term profits?” “ does this attract more customers to my app?” “Does this make sense to my customers?” Mindless senseless day to day activities … all of which… are outsources to the extremely toxic TCS work environment While in office premises you have all Managers & above yelling & screaming at the outsourced resources all day Powers that be ensure that no productive work can happen during the office hours & come up with ‘late night & weekend must dos” for everyone reporting to them while they march off home...Read More

Please read this and avoid joining this company at all costs- 1. Product department is led by ex-TCS person with zero Product acumen. New CEO has made Product team as extended Tech team 2. Financial Services is the only potential star for this company and you need to be in the close circle of ex-Indusind bankers to do anything 3. Tech team is pathetic and you will be blamed for their mistakes 4. Business is of small size and there is no money to deliver any new feature including hygiene changes 5. Culture of the company is worst - No transparency, lot of micro management, leaders are clueless of future, central decision making 6. Compensation is below average with no ESOPs (only senior leaders get it) 7. Do not expect to learn anything, there is no peer learning, best practice learning or structure learning 8. Promotions are full of favoritism bias and not based on merit or potential 9. Most people are looking out, good ones have left or are leaving...Read More

At the helm of Tata Digital is a new CEO who demonstrates commendable vision and dedication. his committment to the company's mission and values is evident, and he genuinely seeks to drive the organization towards success. However, it appears that the CEO may be somewhat mislead by his direct reports. While he is a capable leader, the information and feedbacks he receives from seniors may not always reflect the sad state of affairs within the organization. This disconnect can create challenges in decision-making and strategey implementation. Senior staff accountability - the current challenges facing us can largely be attributed to the action and decisions of senior leadership. There is a growing sentiment among employees that this group bears a significant responsibility for the company's current predicament. Their leadership style and approach to management may not align with the needs of the team. As a result, the morale has take a hit, and many employees feel disillusioned with the direction....Read More
One of the most pressing needs at Tata Digital is the need for a cultural overhaul. The current company culture can be described as stagnant and fearful, with limited opportunities for growth and collaboration. Employees are expressing a desire for environment that fosters innovation, open dialog and mutual respect. A positive workspace culture is important for attracting and retaining top talent (which seems to be departing by busloads), and it is only important that the leadership redoubles their commitment to this important cultural pillar. Remember the famous adage: Culture eats Strategy for breakfast....Read More

1. Work culture - everyone is a delivery manager. No one knows what work is to be done, how it is to be done. Employees are questioned whole taking their own leaves. Managers can be on leave for months, but we need to give explanations for 2 days leaves as well 2. Leadership - no respect for employees. Employees are considered labourers. 3. HR - nothing related to employee welfare is done by the HRs. They are just an extension of management. They are merely puppets to managers...Read More

Work Culture is great, but this is very specific to team you're in. Lots to learn being young startup across all tech stack. Overall good.
No proper procedures or approvals to get things done, lacks leadership. No proper role and levels distinction. Promotions are very slow and kinda biased. Appraisal hike is very less for SDEs.
