I was fortunate to be associated with Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway. However the job of Station Manager in Chakradharpur Division is far far from satisfactory due the fact that 75% of stations are either in far flung malaria infested jungle stations or small road side stations with poor or no connectivity and social setup to facilitate living with family. What ever u earn is wasted in maintaining double establishment and for medical expenses. Unfortunately after 35 years of my joining S E. Work pressure is high . compensation is not commensurate with risk involved in the job. Commands high public esteem. Career growth is limited.
