So I started off at Optum as a fresher , and let me tell you I was no good when I had started. My first project and team was really amazing and helpful. I got a chance to work with big-data tech stack. There are a lot of internal developed tools and projects , and if you don't feel good with your project you can switch teams in 1 year. You'll get enough leaves and some health benefits. There are really good internally organized trainings ranging from web-development , mobile-app development , big-data , NLP/machine learning and cyber-security. You'll be able to reach out and interact with healthcare tech - specialists and provide our ideas. You can also get some free azure trainings and certifications if your manager approves. Overall company and policies are great , but focus is on US market and Indians do suffer because of it , late night meetings , deployments and much focus is on work done by US folks rather that Indians....Read More

Luck is of Importance , If your manager and product owners are cool you should be good, else there can be a scenario where you have to fight to showcase your effort to get good hike and your cash rewards . It's a really hierarchical organization and focus is primarily on US healthcare , if if you burn yourself for your project you won't get recognized as much as your US counterparts. Work is not much , until you reach production timelines . Indian managers can turn out to be bad , as they have control over your cash rewards , annual bonus and quarterly cash rewards. Overall the company is good, but there is no chance for you to grow. The managers are incompetent and they favour their friends who are also not competent. They will not let you work properly, work distribution is absurd, no proper training, no KT sessions and the ones who get promoted are either done after 3, 4 years of actual workbecause is 3z 4 years or the ones who are manager close. In my team specially the job designation and the work does not at all match, for example on of my team members recently got promoted to Sr. Data Engineer Analyst but for the past 5 to 7 years I have seen him work only on testing and QA stories that too on a manual way. He literally has a document to do all that steps even when and where to click the button. Its just because of his designation he js getting paid well which was made possible because he is a close friend of my manager who helped him get the job earlier. My manager as of today doesn't even know anything about Data Engineering and he is at Sr Data Engineering Manager positions. Such incompetency....Read More
