Employee welfare is just a show! They do actually care for their employees. They just see them as money making machines, if they are on maternity or pregnant or going through personal issues can be easily replaceable without giving a second thought about what happens to that employee

=>The Major Cons of working in this project is the night shift(everytime) my health is detiorating constantlly(Lack of sleep, irregular eating habits) =>Mostly working in a US project means in my case it's a 24/7 client support, which means no holidays for any indian festivals (Ganesh chaturthi, Dusshera, Diwali)I usually had to apply for leave during festival times =>As it's a 24/7 customer support. there are no celebrations for any festivals or new year(literally sucks)my manager - he always thinks about customer satisfaction and client mails everytime =>Partiality - No matter how hard you work, how much efforts you make, you'll never get a small appreciation to boost your work, but rather errors will be spotted in each and every thing you do....Read More

Company is good but sometimes your management is frustrating. Biased to favourites. Skilll development used to happen when i joined but disappeared with time. ( earlier they used to proivde six sigma training but never after that). Its unfortunate that your manager never shows data on the basis of which you are rated. Just verbal words and assumption. If they want to fire you they will put work pressure on you and appoint their pawn around you who will point fingers on you and sometimes plays with your emotions as well. Even if you are working hard you or your team will be never recognized. Suddenly after you left / aur asked to volunterly resign by HR your team will become best team on the floor because it was then headed by the same pawn. Polictics is played everywhere but cognizant is the hub. SDM makes their own rules and follow them. This all happened after my management was changed....Read More

Overall cognizant has a very good environment to work with. But I should say it also purely depends on the team which we have put into. The salary is higher for freshers and lateral compared to other companies.

Dislikes

We cannot expect good ratings and promotion even if we deserve it. As they ask you to work 10 hrs continuously, you will not have time to develop your skills.

No salary issues and if you get proper project and colleague your are good to go. Every 6 months there is a skill up process you can utilise to improve your self.

PM not having technical knowledge and worst experience in support project . Talent management team not having proper tacking they didn't care about your skills match with your project. Salary is too low, only ceo earns good money, exploiting freshers and playing with their careers. They don't have many projects, so most of the time people will be on bench. Promotions are delayed/cancelled based on their convenience citing reasons like utilization is less (common sense- it is less because the company has less projects). Promotions criteria are increased if you satisfy previous required criteria. Hikes are less than peanuts. Company culture is bad, no festival celebration nothing. Work-life balance depends on the project; if you have a project, then you're overloaded with work and if you don't, you're overloaded with stress as they can terminate you anyday.
