Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Verbal was quite easy. Other two sections need more time.
Tips: Read basic formulas of speed distance, probability, etc. Logical reasoning section had deductions type questions.
Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: Group discussion was not an elimination round. It went pretty well.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The whole interview was technical. It was also based on your projects whichever you have mentioned in your resume.
Tips: Thorough reading of all the subjects you are interested in. Switch gear and protection and industrial automation, also power electronics.

General Tips: study technical very properly. about 95% of the interview is based on technical part.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: In the technical section there were 45 questions for which 30 mins were given. There were 3 subsections in Aptitude section: Analytical reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability. 25 questions in each subsection for which a total of 60 mins was given. Basic questions but conceptual in the technical section. There was separate cut off for each section as well as an overall cutoff.
Tips: Manage your time accordingly. For the technical round (mechanical students) prepare machine design, strength of materials, manufacturing technology properly.
Duration: 90 minutes
Total Questions: 120

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: It was not an elimination round. So, I was relaxed a bit. The topic was something we all think about but rarely discuss with friends. It went good for me. I spoke whenever I got a chance to and I feel the most important thing was being to the point and that our group had a proper discussion coming to a proper conclusion.
Tips: Stick to the basic rules of a group discussion. Do not panic in any condition. Do not speak a lot. Give others also a chance to speak. And most importantly do speak. Even if you are not confident at the start, try speaking and you will eventually gain confidence. And do not think if you are not good at English and all. Keeping your point of view is what you should focus on.
Duration: 30 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: It was quite good. I felt I did well in my interview. They were correcting me as well whenever I was wrong. Gave advices for life and the industry. I felt quite comfortable communicating with them as well.
Tips: Prepare atleast 2 favourite subjects thoroughly. Prepare the basic HR questions. Have good knowledge of your final year project and the training/internship. Again do not panic if u don't know the answers to some questions. You need not know the answer to each and every question. Be honest and be yourself. Do not try to fake. Do carry a smile throughout and if you are lucky enough you might get selected ;)

General Tips: Even if you do not get selected stay composed. A lot of companies come for recruitment and you just need a good day to get selected. It might have been one of those bad days at the office.

Motivation: It is the biggest engineering company in India (no.1). It gives me the site job that I actually wanted. I wanted to go production side and it gives me a chance to do that. Moreover during my training I would get to explore a number of other moments as well.
Funny Moments: When they asked me if I would go for further studies I simply said no and to the reason I said that I don't have an answer to this why to which they started laughing. Also, during the interview they cracked a few jokes which I didn't understand but I simply laughed along with them :P

Experience: Top 30 from our department were selected for the next rounds.

Round: Test
Experience: For quantitative round question level was not so high and time management problem was there.For verbal round there were 55 questions and allotted time was only 15 minutes.
Tips: Practice as much as you can.For verbal round never go for second thought for a question...

Round: Technical Interview
Tips: Don't forget to speak about your family.Your favourite subject should be studied thoroughly.Don't forget to go through your training reports.

Experience: L&T (Larsen and Toubro) Constructions gives chance to only top rank holders in every college.Their criteria varies according to their need.In my time the eligibility criteria was -Top 40 rank holders with 10th and 12th- 60%
Tips: Start maintaining your rank from the first year of college itself.

Round: Test
Experience: The level of both the tests was good. Do some practice for Aptitude and Logical Reasoning questions before.



English test was completely based on Grammar. The duration of English test was just 20 minutes for 51 questions.Questions were easy only but without practice not possible.
Tips: For practicing questions of any section, you can practice at www.Indiabix.com. The selection cutoff for these tests was around 60%.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The interview was started with some basic HR questions, then they asked me about my projects. After projects they started asking questions from every possible subject of civil engineering.
Tips: According to me if u want to get a job in this company, you must be technically good. Be confident and calm in the interview and if you don't know any answer just tell them sir i don't know this.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The HR interview was a normal interview. They just waned to check i am interested or not.
Tips: Do some research about Company before going to interview.

Experience: Round2: Interview Round. Just 1 interview- it was mixed tech and HR questions

General Tips: My interviewer very explicitly mentioned the package is said lower than it actually is. LnT has crazy benefits like accommodation for 100 per month (namesake money. Its practically free), food, transportation and much more. The package is said lower because they don't want candidates come in for the money, but for a career. Also, note that LnT has a bond for 2 years. If you leave them in between you have to pay them 2lacs. Candidates that mentioned discomfort about this bond were disqualified immediately. It is apparently yet another trap to filter out people who really want to pursue LnT seriously.My interviewer also mentioned LnT being rich in culture and having an extremely smooth corporate ladder. If you stick for 2-3 years you will see two promotions and great jumps in salary.
Skill Tips: In Apti,  easy question but ridiculous time constraint, so if you don't know the answer at a glimpse simply move on, amazingly easy questions await you. I was pleasantly surprised as I am far from the core types that the team that came to recruit had 3 men who were pretty nice people. No stress interview. Highly chilled out people who honestly want to know if you are interested. Very basic questions were asked in the interview- Types of losses, lightning arrestors, a great deal about earthing, why fuses are popular when there are other emerging alternatives. Kept helping here and there to push the answers out of you and Very encouraging. A background check on what your family does, which places will you be comfortable staying in etc. It was my first interview and I was at great ease. A very generously lucky experience.

Round: Test
Experience: Top 30 students (based on cgpa) of our class were selected. Aptitude test was conducted for these students.

Round: Other Interview
Experience: 15 candidates were shortlisted from the 1st round. Next round was personal interview, 9 students were recruited.

General Tips: Brush your concepts on concrete technology structural design and about aggregates. Be well with mix design. They may ask you to give a ratio for a particular design strength.Overall process was easy. If you are good with the basics you can easily crack the interview.
Skill Tips: Prepare well for Aptitude. They selected students who had done well in aptitude. It carried more weightage compared to personal interview. Cat material can be referred to improve on apti. As it was construction company most of the questions in pi was about concrete technology and some general questions about aggregate sizes used in different structures, cover in beams slabs.

Experience: Aptitude test consists of a mix of all kinds of basis aptitude questions. English test consists of 57 questions containing a healthy mix of short comprehension, sentence formation, error in tenses, antonyms , synonyms etc to be answered in 20 min.
Tips: For aptitude practice R S Aggarwal thoroughly. since in aptitude you have to answer 1 question every min so speed and precision is the key and that requires a lot of practice.  Wile practicing aptitude questions it is always helpful if you take help of a stop watch so that you can have a track of time you are consuming in solving a particular type of question and hence you can optimize on that for eg: you may require less time in solving questions related to a some topic and more time on other. Thus you will have an idea as to questions from which topic is to be attempted first and which has to be left for last. Your target should be to have more than 35 questions correct at all cost then you have a good chance of getting selected.
For English i feel a regular reading of newspaper, novels and magazines is enough provided you are regular in that.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 60

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Really grilling interview considering the no of questions asked but at the same time  it was a good experience. They ask question from your area of interest eg; Building science , Structural design and analysis, Geotec, water resources and transportation.
Tips: You should be very good in atleast 3 of the above subjects. Read some technical journals as well helps if you quote some research related to the topic.Give a good brief but complete answer and if u don't know say that.If you are unable to remember answer for a particular question you can ask for some time to think n that will be givenThe interviewer will at times add a practical angle to a question n if you hit a six here you have good chance of  success. Remember you have to be well prepared to answer these question so be well prepared. With Lord Sai's grace may u succeed.
