Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: I had a standard resume for this company as per our institute placement cell norms.
For ISGEC I laid emphasis on the technical aspects in my resume. It is a technical company so I mentioned those subjects in my resume in which I had a strong command.

Round: Test
Experience: The written test was almost totally technical with only a small section having questions on general aptitude. The test covered almost all topics of mechanical engineering. There were around 80 questions out of which around 15 questions related to general aptitude. Manufacturing process is one topic that others should look for before appearing for test and surface knowledge of all other topics is also required. For the next round 6 people were selected (two students from production engineering discipline and 4 from mechanical engineering discipline).

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The final round was an interview. The interview was light and was mostly based on my main subjects which were vibrations and solid mechanics. In solid mechanics, they asked me about bending moments and shear force diagram for beams. They also asked me few theoretical questions. I was also asked about the definition of definite hardness. In vibrations, they asked me to derive equations for figures which had few dampers, springs etc. I had to derive them but not solve them. The interviewers were really helpful throughout the interview.

There were almost no HR questions. They selected only one student and one other was added to the company’s waitlist.
Tips: Prepare one or two of your core subjects with great depth. They would ask you for your strong areas and question you on them.

College Name: IIT ROORKEE
Motivation: I came to know about the company through the placement cell. The presentation given by the company during the pre-placement talk was the first source of information for me.
