Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - They don't send an offer letter in advance via email. They (Everest Food Products Pvt. Ltd.) will give it to you after two months of your joining.

In an interview discussion, a certain amount and designation will be communicated. They will take your confirmation over an email that you will be joining on a certain date. After you join, you will be hoping to get the salary you really asked for in the post for which you have applied.

But the reality is that they will pay you much less than what you have asked for. In my case, I had been asked to join as a claims officer. After two months, I got my letter. There was a change in designation. The offer letter had 'Senior Claims Assistant' mentioned on it as my designation. Also, my first salary was not given on time; it was credited after one and a half months, and it was not what I had asked for; the amount credited was 20% less than what was discussed at the time of an interview.

HR doesn't have any authority here; they cannot change anything or back any employees. Everything is taken over by the commercial manager, who doesn't want to delegate authority. He wants to control everything and every department. He doesn't allow HR to provide offer letters to newly hired people after they are selected.

The company is run by a bunch of old managers who don't want to change.

If you ask them why they did it, they say they will rectify it after a few months. Basically, they cheat the new employees. Things are not transparent, and communication is not clear. They make arbitrary decisions.

Why are women still asked such personal questions in interview?
I recently went for an interview… and honestly, m still trying to process what just happened. Instead of being asked about my skills, experience, or how I could add value to the company… the questions took a totally unexpected turn. The interviewer started asking things like When are you getting married? Are you engaged? And m sure, if I had said I was married, the next question would’ve been How long have you been married? What does my personal life have to do with the job m applying for? This is where I felt the gender discrimination hit hard. These types of questions are so casually thrown at women during interviews but are they ever asked to men? No one asks male candidates if they’re planning a wedding or how old their kids are. So why is it okay to ask women? Can we please stop normalising this kind of behaviour in interviews? Our careers shouldn’t be judged by our relationship status. Period.
