Got Rejected In an Interview, Just Because I Didn’t Answer a Personal Question
So, I got invited for this interview, and they told me to be there at 9 AM. Of course, I get there early, like 8:30, because I don't want to be late. But then I end up waiting for 1.5 hours. Seriously, they didn't even acknowledge me until 10. Then this HR lady calls me in, and she's totally unprofessional. She's like, on her phone, making personal calls while I'm sitting right there. And then she starts asking me these really weird questions, like what my nickname is, and what my dad does for a living. It got really uncomfortable when she started pressing for details about where my dad works. I mean, what does that have to do with anything? So I politely told her I didn't want to answer, and she actually said, "Then we can't continue this interview." I was honestly shocked. But instead of arguing, I just stood up and said, “Alright then.” And walked out. I left feeling pissed. Not only did they waste an hour of my time, but the HR rep was also rude and unprofessional..

  • Ans. Here you don't need to say your name again because your interviewer has already mentioned it earlier. Start with your last education such as Masters etc. Speak just one liner about your each experience. Mention a word about your hobby and if possible your personal life which should include your marital status and parents. Try to wrap it before 2 mins and not less nor more than that.

  • Ans. Donot badmouth about current organization nor upsell this organisation where you are appearing for. Be honest with your response such as looking for financial hike, relocation if it's a different city etc. Try to be crisp and to the point again instead of saying too many things. Remember one golden rule always. The less you say, less you land in trouble. Donot engage yourself if unnecessary discussions.
