Very many people have been asked to leave the organisation just because the planning has not been good and that there were no checkpoints to see where we are heading to. This is not new for companies but here at Tata Digital , it was all written on the wall but the leadership kept on waiting to lay off talent. My worst ever decision of professional life was to join this company thinking that it’s a company of values, “The TATA”. Just because of a bunch of people this organisation has become a nightmare , for last 2 years there has not been a weekend when we have not worked. We are fine working but wrong people are put to lead the efforts. They don’t just manipulate the reports to leadership but also misguided their own teams working in the ground. I have myself heard one of the leaders saying “these people will get jobs in 2weeks”, before handing over the pink slips. The wrongs decisions of the tech and planning teams have put so many lives and families on risk. It's a shame that TDL to be called as a TATA company. Most toxic office culture. Worst leadership team. The incompetence of top management and subsequent layer punishing employees at the lower level by forcing them to resign without any justification. Unplanned use of money on business travels in last 2-3 years. The appraisal system is very biased. The worst part is, whole year an employee worked under a manager but appraisal done by someone else who don't even know who are you. They expect employee will work on weekends without any comp off. In the realm of leadership, an unfortunate dearth of excellence prevails. Those entrusted with stewardship display a regrettable lack of proficiency. The delicate equilibrium between professional duties and personal well-being appears conspicuously absent. One might employ rather unsavoury language to describe the situation,going so far as to term it a lamentable quagmire. To add to the disquiet,official expenses remain unrequited. A discernible strategic void looms large, overshadowed by and excess of unproductive meetings. Regrettable, there exists a palpable deficiency in both reverence for and comprehension of the intricate artistry of software engineering. The product teams, it seems,are preoccupied with internal political machinations,harbouring a desire for its misfortune. The situation unfolds like an incessant and disconcerting game of musical chairs within the realm of assigning blame. One of the most noticeable issues I encountered at TDL was a perceived lack of integrity and professionalism in relation to performance appraisals. Unfortunately, the company's management consistently failed to deliver appraisals on time, leaving employees in a state of perpetual uncertainty. Moreover, promised appraisal dates were frequently changed without adequate explanations, causing further frustration and a lack of trust in the company's commitment to its workforce. Such unreliable practices create an atmosphere of doubt and demotivation, ultimately hindering employee growth and development. Furthermore, it was disheartening to observe that Tata Digital appeared to take its employees for granted. Despite the dedicated time, effort, and skills invested by employees to contribute to the company's success, they were often treated as mere dispensable assets. The company seemed to disregard the importance of recognizing and appreciating the hard work put forth by its workforce. This lack of acknowledgment can leave employees feeling undervalued and disengaged, severely impacting overall morale within the organization. Additionally, it became painfully apparent that TDL demonstrated a form of favoritism towards certain employees. This preferential treatment was evident through the job portal, where select individuals seemed to receive special privileges and opportunities that were not available to the rest of the employees. Such biased practices create a toxic work environment and erode trust among the staff, fostering resentment and a sense of inequality. This form of favoritism is detrimental to teamwork, collaboration, and the overall harmony of the workplace. In conclusion, my experience with Tata Digital has been marred by consistent delays in appraisals, a lack of appreciation for hardworking employees, and the blatant display of favoritism. At the helm of Tata Digital is a new CEO who demonstrates commendable vision and dedication. his committment to the company's mission and values is evident, and he genuinely seeks to drive the organization towards success. However, it appears that the CEO may be somewhat mislead by his direct reports. While he is a capable leader, the information and feedbacks he receives from seniors may not always reflect the sad state of affairs within the organization. This disconnect can create challenges in decision-making and strategey implementation. Senior staff accountability - the current challenges facing us can largely be attributed to the action and decisions of senior leadership. There is a growing sentiment among employees that this group bears a significant responsibility for the company's current predicament. 1. Work culture - everyone is a delivery manager. No one knows what work is to be done, how it is to be done. Employees are questioned whole taking their own leaves. Managers can be on leave for months, but we need to give explanations for 2 days leaves as well 2. Leadership - no respect for employees. Employees are considered labourers. 3. It is a Tata company, so it continues to attract some good people too.

The culture is quite poor. While the new CEO seems to have made efforts to change things, the overall work culture still isn't great, as a lot of the previous leadership continue. Hope Ratan Tata's passing, makes people remember his spirit and values, and what it means to be a Tata company. Right now, I guess I'm not sure if we can say that we are.
