The office spaces look fascinating with fancy interiors, Senior management always promises good company culture and growth opportunities. Annual and quarterly parties are well planned, so you always feel like you are working in a grand organisation. Leadership will always motivate you and make you feel like you are working in a safe space, and one day going to achieve very big!
Firstly, the weird WFO propositions - some employees (favourites) can WFH even for months and some will have to report to office more than 4 days a week just for managers gratification. Secondly, The worst employee benefits I have ever seen in a company. No cab service, no pick and drop, a parking that only has space on weekends XD,no proper or stable food vendors and a cramped and mismanaged cafeteria where every thing (even cookies) are paid for by employees. Extremely poor management, leadership and management principles. Working at NAB India feels like nothing but a service based company whose soul client is NAB Australia. Right from hiring, to project alignment, to work-life management and promotion / appraisal of their employees, everything is directed by the foreign stakeholders, and the India based managers ('people leaders' as they refer) are only on paper. Their support, guidance and ability in terms of power is negligible and they work in a puppet fashion. Work allocation is often hefty and tiring, with minimum team spirit /colleague support. They follow a take your work and leave type of approach. The most common and normalised thing here is micromanagement. AU stakeholders are quite selfish and are often on multiple weeks of leave as they have hired YOU to work for 50 hours a week for them and get the work done. They have negligible respect for Indian employees and name-call them in private. Indian leaders and management will forget about the "outstanding culture" that they brag about when it comes to supporting their own fellow teammates. Overall, from what I figured from my 2 year time here is that the entire India unit started off by a group of buddies (all senior leaders and managers have had years of together working experience in the past). It's quite evident when you see them catching up outside office for drinks and parties much more often than you see them in meeting rooms. Some of the things such as heart beat survey is a good practice by the organization where you rate your managers and give feedback to organisation on how things are. It does have an impact on the managers and their attitude but is only effective where there is a big team and your manager is unable to identify who gave the negative feedback. The culture is bad, situation has gone from bad to worse here. They have hired bad leaders at the top who are impacting the overall employee experience, have zero leadership/people skills. Support functions are one of the worst functions to work with. Zero work life balance, i have been employed with them for 2 years now and while ihave 27 annual leaves i have hardly taken 10 leaves in an year because of the work pressure. Working on weekends is normal. Working a 12-16 hours shift is normal in many functions and you wont even get paid overtime. Bad language is being used on the floor, leaders turn a blind eye towards complaints. Basically you are left on your own to survive, they know you are in need and will not leave so quickly. They hire non banking people at Senior VP level to manage hard core corporate banking ops. It is just not the right way to run a new corporate bank offshore unit. They run banking ops like a typical call centre and create useless pressure within 1 month of joining to meet outrageous targets like we are attending calls. They dont have a clear roadmap for their 2-5 year road map and are 100% dependent on onshore bosses. 1. Discrepancy between the salary they offered ( mentioned in the offer letter ) and what you actually get monthly in hand. (changes in the HR policy which you are bound to accept) 2. Not providing Cabs ( at the time of joining they said that they were planning to provide cabs once the headcount increased but after joining they said there is a cost involved in that so they can't provide cabs) 3. Cafeteria - this company doesn't have its own cafeteria for its employees. We had to share the Gartner Cafeteria for which we were allowed for only 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. now coming to the work-related issues - 1. No internal QA teams - there is no internal QA team established so external QA feedback will directly hit your scorecards and later on that will impact your rating, bonus, and appraisal. 2. TL does not have the necessary process knowledge or basic professional manners to handle a team. 3. Managers /TL are not approachable you cannot reach out to them for any professional issues if you do you will be asked to simply leave the company as per them "there are 4 people in line waiting to join "NAB. ( there are the exact words spoken by the inline manager) 4. No transparency / No documentation - Every discussion you have with your TL or manager is verbal and later they will deny any conversation you had with them. 5. Rude and unprofessional behavior - TL or Managers are rude. they think they are paying us from their own pockets. 6. Partiality or Favoritism - TL/ Managers favors specific employees you will surely get a promotion if you pay special attention to them ( if you know what i mean) 7. Policies are not employee-friendly but Manager-friendly. The manager will try to discourage you from reaching out to HR and according to him "the HR will do whatever he says" (again exact same words told by manager ) 8. HR Department is of no use. They exactly do whatever the management says. They are puppets. 9. No appraisal and the manager says don't expect too much to avoid disappointment in the future.
