My experience at ICICI Bank specifically regarding COVID-19 lockdown situation is not at all satisfactory. When Mumbai city started to see first cases of COVID-19, no proper policy regarding work from home was put in place. It is only shortly before Janata Curfew was announced, that very few employees were provided laptops for working from home. Rest of the employees were asked to come to office albeit at a different location. Till the time of writing this review, I did not get work from home option and was asked to come to office instead, and that too after wasting one whole week in planning as to what to do when a complete lockdown was announced.
The plight of employees does not end here. Those who got laptops were at no better place than anyone. There were sever issues in connectivity to bank's system from home. Those employees were hardly able to complete routine tasks and yet they were scolded for the fact that they could not complete the work. As far as I am concerned, I was asked to come to office at an alternate location for a week before a complete nation-wide lockdown was announced. After that announcement, employees like me, who neither had laptops nor could travel to any office due to lockdown were at home doing nothing. This has a severe impact after having to join office in the next week when the bank (somehow) arranged transport to office. Myself with my colleagues were placed at a hotel nearby office. In continuation of the above review.........
No satisfactory arrangements as to food were made at workplace. We had to have food at the hotel where we were staying. But since the hotel was a luxury hotel, we simply couldn't afford food there and had to order food online at workplace. Ordering food from outside isn't certainly a good idea at a time when there is an infectious disease at large. But we had no feasible option other than ordering online.
I have heard that people who got laptops to work from home had to incur charges for getting a high speed wifi in order to connect to bank's systems. Even then there was no guarantee that such charges were reimbursible by bank.
This whole story narrates only one fact - absolute lack of planning and haphazard manner of projecting the impact of situation on employees, work safety and ultimately, work.
Note that the above experience is restricted to the department I work for and does not necessarily reflect the possibility of a bad experience on the part of all employees of the bank....Read More
