The company is open to innovation and readily adopts latest trend in telecom technology. I love being a team leader that manages a team of different engineering disciplines-structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and communication and of document controlling, autocad, estimate and surveying. Fastracking is our main goal-to be able to finish the FDEDS(Final Design Engineering Details) packages within the prescribed time with quality and within the allocated budget to our clients-STC(Saudi Telecom), Zain-Nokia and local telecom contractors. salary is good and within competitive environment. I traveled almost kingdom wide of KSA on inspection trips providing on spot analyses and solutions to issues prevailing at the sites. I have the opportunity to employ management tools that I have designed including training needs of my subordinates to achieve our goal with optimized efforts within quality, time and budget restraints. i have applied what I have learned from my MBA apprenticeship. I was able to apply what I have learned from my masteral schooling-Graduate Program in Engineering in Structural Engineering particularly in Advanced Steel/Metal Design. In the end I was able to perform well in arguments/debates with the other consultants in resolving issues stated in Commentary Reports submitted by them. and get away with a Code A rating(Approval) in short time. They offered me a 30 days paid vacation (salary and plane tickets) twice a year but I work at home through on-line basis. This does not pose a problem with me and my management tools. Dislikes

The work pressure is great. I have to work till 300 am around 16 hours but this is not prevalent. During the lean months, it gave me opportunity to train my team, step by step as there is no on-job training but they gave us reference as to do the jobs which is also difficult as you have to study the reference materials on weekends. Then from that, you will have to train your team step by step. It is a hard job of bringing the company to a real time and place. Compensation is good if you are good, but most of team are not satisfied with their salary and the company does not want to make a precedent that is not good, divisive and of course there is an escalation of costs to consider that may affect the survival of the company in the future. You must be able to solve any issues within the bounds of engineering viability / feasibility aspects and maybe look for reasons to cover the issue and throw it back to the consulting arm of our clients. I took the brunt of resolving issues wholly and partially as the performance of my team will reflect also my performance. It is a matter of survival between the company and to our clients.
