Got Rejected In an Interview, Just Because I Didn’t Answer a Personal Question

So, I got invited for this interview, and they told me to be there at 9 AM. Of course, I get there early, like 8:30, because I don't want to be late. But then I end up waiting for 1.5 hours. Seriously, they didn't even acknowledge me until 10. Then this HR lady calls me in, and she's totally unprofessional. She's like, on her phone, making personal calls while I'm sitting right there. And then she starts asking me these really weird questions, like what my nickname is, and what my dad does for a living. It got really uncomfortable when she started pressing for details about where my dad works. I mean, what does that have to do with anything? So I politely told her I didn't want to answer, and she actually said, "Then we can't continue this interview." I was honestly shocked. But instead of arguing, I just stood up and said, “Alright then.” And walked out. I left feeling pissed. Not only did they waste an hour of my time, but the HR rep was also rude and unprofessional..

Compensation provided by the company us very good when it comes to the Indian market. Overall culture is very supportive and you will be surrounded by some of the smartest people. The company offers remote working which is always a plus.

The company is currently going through a tough phase of transition. The morale in the US is down as there has been 3 lay offs rounds in the last year or so and the company's financial position is also in threat for this year as well. Mostly the compensation. It's not keeping up with inflation/market in some ways. It's not horrible, but low enough that you have to leave if you're wanting to truly progress from a salary perspective.
