American Express seems to be a very good organisation until you start working there. They just wanted us to Answer more and more calls and never gave us time to work on emails. They need quality work from their agents but won’t give sufficient time to work on a case. The leaders will poke you repeatedly after 5 minutes to answer newcall. They have bandwidth issue but will still say we have over-hired people. After logging out, the agents spend 2-3 hours on daily basis to complete the emails. Also, if someone tries to share his/her concerns with the leaders or managers then leaders will not focus on improving but according to them, the employee is being negative and they will try their best terminate such employees. Also, because of these dirty politics, many sincere and hard working employees lost their job and few people like me resigned even after giving 100 percent.They know they are a big brand so they don’t bother about the mental torture they give to their employees. I worked in Travel and lifestyle department of India and not even single employee was happy with the culture. Its better to work with small organisations rather than dreaming about working in American Express. Also, they change the shifts every month due to which there is no proper work life balance bit the managers and leaders have fix. They will also deduct your incentives even if it was not your fault. People think that Amex is best as they offers agents stays, they have tie ups with Costa, Hilton and other major brands but if the person working in the organisation is not happy then there is no point of having these benefits. I may live without a Job but will never Join American Express again. The most toxic environment. Also, the HR did not share proper information about the in hand salary. He said you will get XYZ amount in hand but when the first salary was credited, the complete team was not happy as the PF was deducted from the in hand salary. For example he promised 60000 in hand with all deductions but we received 56500. They did not even investigate in this matter and started questioning us that whats the proof about it. Job is safe however deducting salary till 31dec would be very difficult for person who earns around 40k to 50k .. we have loans , EMIS , extra expensive as well, we can manage for 3 months but for 9 months would be next to impossible...
No increament we understand and deducting 3 months salary would be managable.. but please think twice deducting for 9 months its very very difficult.. we understand the sitiation but we are sole earner for the family

Toxic work culture and worst management . U can’t work there for more than two years, either they will chuck you out or you will leave by yourself. Over pressure and no work life balance. The only reason they are always hiring is because every year the attrition rate is beyond limits .

- Good work culture is a scam. The environment in actual in pathetic. There is no process in place to handle incidents of bad behaviour. I myself have faced eve teasing, and when raised it with senior leadership, they asked me to ignore it and focus on work. When I raised it with the CLR team ( colleague labor and relations), they said it doesn't fall under their work basket. The only reason Amex tops in the workplace culture is because they are very good at hiding incidents of bad behaviour. So many people around us have left because of the same. One of the incidents involved someone directly reporting to MD India, still no action was taken. - Promotions are very difficulty to get. There aren't much vacancies anyways, and some of which that do come up, they already have an internal candidate decided. They only post those vacancies in portal for compliance sake. They keep advertising lateral movement instead of vertical movements. - Low salaries compared to competitors. -They have been actively hiring female employees to maintain the gender ratio, but do nothing when we face discrimination by our managers or are misbehaved by other male colleagues. Two female analysts under my VP team have already left this year citing mental health issues. - They are not laying off people because they have been actively placing people in PIP. Every director has been informed the no of people to eliminate from their team. PIP itself creates so much mental pressure that the employee themselves end up resigning. Hence the attrition rates have also increased, but no news of layoffs....Read More

In my role I had an amazing work life balance. Never received a call from my bosses to work on holiday or work off .

Amazing company to work with. Monetary benefits are really good. Insurance and yearly appraisals are greatly appreciated. Perks are good and play crucial role in employee’s motivation. If you are lucky you will get good managers and work journey would be smooth and promising. Amex is a wonderful company and people in higher management i.e. above band 40 are employee centric.
Work culture of every management is different. Few are really appreciating their team members and few will micromanage and do not support. Few teams do not recognise their employee’s effort. Favouritism will be easily seen. If you make good relationship with manager then good work will come to you and you will be appreciated on regular basis. You will get chance to be in meetings with higher management and that increases visibility.If no good terms with management then they will suppress your good work and no recognition for your extraordinary performance in RnRs. After-all your rating is in their hands. Goal’s rating is under employee’s control but Leadership rating is under your manager’s control. Managers can intentionally ruin rating as they dislike that particular. They wont let to take internal movement.
