I have see many candidate who tell us that they know Word, Excel but when asked to do small exercise on computer they are unable to perform. For instrumentation design candidate shall know about logic and basic of PLC programming. How to prepare I/O based on equipment data sheet, Interface with electrical signals. IF, AND , OR gates, Logic Diagram etc. Study data sheet of various instruments and electrical equipment's.
