5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Easy to crack.Questions regarding aptitude were quite easy n could be finished within a time span of 20 min. even without prior practice. Some questions were from ic engines which u cud answer only if u love the subject.Rest were very easy if u just know the basics of subject. Some were basic physics.
Tips: U dont have to worry about time which is more then enough in this company's paper. Most companies repeat the same paper in every NIT n even every year. M not sure about this one ,but most companies do so ,so u can ask your friends in different nit's.However u can easily crack it yourself .Some company papers and aptitude questions could be practiced from INDIABIX.COMHave good or at-least avg. knowledge of ic engines.U don require any coaching to crack any campus papers n according to me not even for gate. Just try to have love for the subject u study even if it is a day bfore the exam.If u aspire about dream companies..then hv very gud pointers(9) . However if u want to go in an automobile company 7 to 7.5 is enough. Baaki college me aish karo n be confident.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 50

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: was not that easy. Some didnt understood the topic in first go.One of the members asked them to give out the meaning of topic to which they first replied if u dont know the topic go out but the next instant explained coz they wanted the gd to be a healthy one.I was a bit under-confident initially but never felt in my mind m going out.Din spoke too much ,just made my presence felt .
Tips: Dont panic if u dont understand the topic. Listen to others , make new points from their points or elaborate the sameNever look nervous...even if u are.The most important one...Ask the hr's to elaborate the topic if u dont understand it . If your group hesitates ,then you are going for a bigger trouble...so ask...atleast your group then has a chance rather than speaking rubbish.
Duration: 12 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: They called 3 students from each initially made group of 8. There were a total of 16 students called again.2 groups were made.Initially we thought we were in an unsafe zone...or so called unsure zone and so were made to face another gd...but later realized wen they said...BEST OF BEST...i personally had more points this time but still under-performed by a large margin..coz i was getting interrupted every time and i let the other person speak and some of the points were spoken by others ...i felt a low chance..still i did kept on speaking confidently ,never made them feel that i was going down....
Tips: Be confident whatever situation may be.Always try to keep you point and have a good voice modulation. But even if you are polite to let the other one continue just for the sake of good conversation...that too has a positive effect...atleast on a sensible HR.Dont ever let it come to your face that you are loosing hope.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Out of the 11 selected finally from gd, i was the last one to face the interview. It actually was to be a techno cum hr interview which actually went on to be a purely hr interview. It is actually the way where u divert them.I spoke about my strengths and even went on to connect it with my weaknesses. It was actually stunning that it even went on to connect to a personal question which is rare at an interview. While i thought i ws sureshot rejected...i was first to be selected despite the last interview and even asked to announce the other selected students...which was a gr8 feeling.
Tips: Like i said before ...believe in your capabilities.Sure u cant know everything but be prepared for technical interview too.For me it was a luck by chance.Love what you study, even a least bit, then also. Most of all ,they try to take you down with a shocker...so stay calm and never let the thought come to your mind that i cant do it.

Skill Tips: well all the listed below things are studied either out of interest or for your own satisfaction.Taking a job needs a lil bit of confidence, basic knowledge of concepts n most importantlyBASIC KNOWLEDGE OF YOURSELF :)....the rest are ur added positives.
Skills: GD skills, Knowledge in ic engines
College Name: NIT BHOPAL
Motivation: Interest in working in an automobile company.
Funny Moments: well..once i came in for the interview...HR asked me itte dare hue kyun ho...G.d me to itta bol rhe the..n i said no sir ,smiled again..n in a very loud tone..nai to sir... :)...

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: In both the sections there was no negative marking.
section 1 aptitude consisted of 50 questions to be solved in 60 minutes which included questions from reading comprehension passages, quantitative ability and analytical ability.

Questions were not tough and test went pretty well and I was confident enough to get through the written test.
Tips: Just manage the time well and make sure to answer every question since there is no negative marking. Focus on the grammatical errors and editing in section 2 because the options are quite confusing and time is less.
Duration: 75 minutes
Total Questions: 100

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Technical round went quite well since they ask you the questions related to your strengths in various subjects. It went on for about 30 mins.Interviewer seemed contented with the answers. They asked if I had interest in subjects like hydrology and irrigation and my simple 'no' reply impressed them because they expect genuine answers and personality.
Tips: Just start from the basics and get to the answers eventually & aptly and answer confidently. Don't hesitate to ask proper queries wherever possible. Show your strengths in subjects like structure, RCC, soil mechanics, steel, fluid mechanics because these subjects are relevant to their firm. However , basics of surveying and irrigation will also work. Apply practical approach. Show your willingness to learn new things after joining their firm.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Technical interview is the deciding interview. You will be passed onto the HR interview if and only if they are sure enough to hire you. Hr interview went on for 10-15 mins. They just wanted to know my personality traits.
Tips: Just answer every question calmly. Avoid showing desperation to join the firm and and the excitement or over confidence that you are already hired. Don't fake anything about yourself and be natural because they easily judge what quality comes out from you at the best.

General Tips: Prepare the subjects of your choice well because those will determine your fluency and confidence while answering questions.
Skills: self confidence, logical thinking, management of people and situations, integrity
College Name: NIT BHOPAL
Motivation: The fact that L&T is the largest private construction firm in India served as the motivation.
Funny Moments: HR interviewer, after completion of whole procedure ,told that he had given the interview for his promotion a day before he came to MANIT and the result was due during the timing of my interview. So I calmly replied " Don't worry sir, you must have definitely cracked the interview..just chill and could you just give your promotion party in advance now coz I am starving"...:D
