Employees can only get so much work done in a day, and a good employer or manager understands this. When you have a clear understanding of what you need to accomplish, you can enjoy a less stressful work environment. Having consistent expectations is also important, and good companies will outline what they expect of each employee.

Dislikes

I like my job, but my employer has room for improvement regarding staff retention. We’ve had a lot of turnovers, so when we get an email announcing yet another employee is leaving, I can sense the team’s attitude as a whole deteriorating. I’ve enjoyed all the projects and work, and the office atmosphere is lovely.

Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw

I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.
