Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw
I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.

A Team Lead
Wow, that's really disappointing to hear. Interviews should be a two-way street, not a power play.
Did you consider providing feedback to their HR team? It might help future candidates. 🤔

That sounds super unprofessional! 😡 Everyone deserves respect, especially in such high-stakes scenarios

I interviewed for MTS Frontend at DE Shaw the previous month. The interviewer was very rude. He wanted me to solve everything in my mind and explain it to him. He told me not to touch the keyboard like he was always scolding me.
I was doing a dry run he was like don't touch the keyboard don't type anything. He dragged my morale down I started feeling how incompetent I was. He was filled with arrogance I don't know how a year-experience guy can take 5 years experience interview.

I gave interview for same.. Looks like they are just collecting the data how different company works and manage their portfolio.. After everything was clear and there was another round requested and later they mentioned thanks for applying and the position doesn't match with my profile

Hi, thanks for sharing! I had a similar experience, and it does make you question yourself for a moment but it’s definitely on them. Unprofessional behavior shouldn’t be tolerated, and companies should audit their interview processes to ensure fairness and professionalism.

I had 2 rounds of interview. The first interview was cancelled at the last minute and was later rescheduled. Later after finishing 2 rounds, I was told though my profile is good, we aren’t sure where to fit you. Thank you for applying.
I’m like bhai resume se pata chal hi Gaya tha toh 2 round mazak mazak me liye tha kya 😕
