New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward

I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. They weren’t mad at me, but now I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable and unsure how to handle this situation. Has anyone had something like this happen? How did you deal with it? Let’s chat!

CTC - 8 LPA Loc - Bengaluru, India I have been working in the same company for the last 5 years. My salary went from 3.6 LPA to 8 LPA over the years. I recently put papers, and, started giving interviews. I got an offer from TCS for 15 LPA(12.8 fixed). For more than a month, I've been giving interviews, asking for 18 LPA and many HRs are rejecting straight away, citing it is more than 100% hike from my current CTC. I kept trying and now I am selected for 5 companies - Iris Software, Capgemini, Quantzig Analytics, PwC, HCL, Infinite. Salary discussions are about to start and I'm confused. I'm not good at this. Can anyone suggest?

Salary Negotiation in an interview

Hi, I have had a first round of interview with the company. And mentioned my salary expectations as 15- 20% from my previous LPA. But after that I feel like I have undervalued my expectations. Being in the field for 9 years with the required skill, considering the market and the prospect company is a well known builder, i should have asked more. I am a Social Media Specialist with over 4 years of experience and was earning around 4.5 LPA in my previous role. When I joined my current organization, I discovered that my manager, with just 2.5 years of work experience, was earning a compensation of 7.6 -8.2 LPA (approx). This was quite surprising to me, and it made me question the market standards. Hi, I'm here to share a part of my journey from the past 12 years in my career, I started from a package of 3.6LPA in 2013 at iGate and due to a few bad decisions on my career and worthless advices from people who are always pessimistic about the industry, I switched two companies and landed in a start-up with 2.4LPA. I worked hard nearly 8-16hrs a day single handed researched, built and managed an entire vertical of a project for 8 years. When the company didn't value my contribution and thought I was too young to become a manager, I had a package of 6LPA and Senior developer in designation. I switched for obvious reasons to a TL role for 12LPA and now at the same company I'm a TPM on the basis of my contribution with 48LPA as a fixed component. I feel outclassed in terms of having a fancy CV with certifications, I feel like CTC has hit a peak with 48LPA being fixed and nearly 40% in Variable. Most companies are hesitant to hire me because of this. What should be my next move?

Hello, Current offer from CG - Total 21.5L, fixed as 19.4 and rest bonus Retention offer from Deloitte - Total 19.1, fixed as 15.5 and rest bonus (4L) I understand the offer is less but my manager explained that Deloitte's hikes are better in the market and on an average, I can get 15% every year with good performance. The same hikes in CG are around 5-6% so financially, my salary growth will definitely be more in Deloitte. Please give me suggestions. I have good management and projects in Deloitte with WLB but I would like to have some perspective on offered CTC too

I am working currently as a team lead for hcl and since idiotically I didn't switch any companies from start 2019 till now, I have a measly ctc of 4.3 lpa. I got an offer accepting 8lpa , but they are demanding to join in 15 days. And hcltech, being the company it is, is having 90 days notice period, negotiable to 60 days only. Initial negotiation with my current manager and the new company hr didn't go over that well, I am in a bind now. Any suggestions?

Hi, My current in-hand salary is 25,000 per month. Additionally, my company provides me with three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), accommodation, and transportation services. I'm wondering if I'm earning a very low salary considering the value of these additional benefits. For your consideration: I have nearly three years of experience in the FMCG sector. I am java backend dev and my current tech stack is Java, spring boot, microservices, restful APIs, mysql, dsa(400+ problems in leetcode) Have knowledge in kafka as well but no hands on experience. My current CTC is 7Lpa No frontend or cloud experience. I got the above offer(hyd location,hybrid model). I have already resigned in my company, attended few interviews but failed in all. I have been working with an MNC for 7 years (total exp: 11 years)have had the following perks: 2 prmotion and another one due in 18 months as technical lead. US visit for 2 weeks and have a visa valid till 2034 Respect and recognition amongst onshore and local colleagues. The incement now has been lower with 15% last year along with promotion. Help me with in hand salary

Hi All, I'm so much confused in calculating my in hand salary by excluding the variable pay. Anyhow variable pay will have 30% tax directly on it. So by excluding If I calculate my monthly inhand using old and as well as new regime of 2025. I don't know which one to choose and which is best for me. Instead, focus on this: take the salary you're currently earning and deliver 10 times the value. Be the most consistent person in your organization and show up every time an opportunity arises. I’m in a situation and need some guidance. I have a job offer with: CTC: 9.4 LPA fixed + 21% variable = 11.4 LPA total. Location: Chennai (not ideal for me). Another opportunity is in the pipeline, with a more suitable location, but the expected CTC is around 9.4 LPA, which is significantly lower than the first offer. Budget 2025 was a bummer!

I am earning 13.5 lpa and appraisal would be around 8-9% this year...so next fiscal year I would be earning around 14.6. it is kind of disappointing to see how a person who earns less than me gets more money in hand and it would take me almost two more years and appraisals to get that money in hand. Here’s my background: YOE: 2.5 years in cybersecurity Certifications: OSCP, CRTO, CRTE, CEH, eCPPTv2 I mentioned that the offer seemed on the lower side, especially given my certifications and expertise, but the HR said they couldn’t increase it further and even mentioned they might drop my candidacy if I pushed for more. How much salary should I ask for and how to prove my skills?

I have been working for 3 years 6 months (started in 2021) as a Data Analyst/BI Analyst with my techstack being SQL, Python and PBI. I have switched 2 companies and currently at my 3rd one from the last 1.7 years being paid 14.57 LPA. I am switching because it's become stagnant here with no room for further growth (after many talks with my team lead etc.) I am afraid of not being able to bag DS/DA roles because every other hiring post says that they require the whole world from a DA with 3+ years of experience. Idk how to prove my abilities with limited exposure so far and therefore, how much salary also to ask and negotiate for. Please help!

We’ve all been there....HR asking for our previous salary slips. But what if someone inflates their actual CTC, say from X to 1.3X, to negotiate a better package?
