Got Rejected In an Interview, Just Because I Didn’t Answer a Personal Question

So, I got invited for this interview, and they told me to be there at 9 AM. Of course, I get there early, like 8:30, because I don't want to be late. But then I end up waiting for 1.5 hours. Seriously, they didn't even acknowledge me until 10. Then this HR lady calls me in, and she's totally unprofessional. She's like, on her phone, making personal calls while I'm sitting right there. And then she starts asking me these really weird questions, like what my nickname is, and what my dad does for a living. It got really uncomfortable when she started pressing for details about where my dad works. I mean, what does that have to do with anything? So I politely told her I didn't want to answer, and she actually said, "Then we can't continue this interview." I was honestly shocked. But instead of arguing, I just stood up and said, “Alright then.” And walked out. I left feeling pissed. Not only did they waste an hour of my time, but the HR rep was also rude and unprofessional..

Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw

I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.

I attended F2F interview yesterday(21-01-25) at TCD, I completed two rounds of interview and wait for a while, they say you may leave now you got a call from us soon. Is Job hopping really bad? I don't think so!

I once interviewed a candidate who had switched 3 jobs all within a span of 1-2 years. My colleague suggested me not to hire him as frequent switches show instability. However, I was confident about the candidate and went on with hiring him. Yesterday he completed 3rd year anniversary with my team. It's 2024, job-hopping often says more about the companies than the employee. People rarely leave when they're treated well, paid fairly, given room to grow, and part of a positive #WorkCulture. But if you provide a toxic workplace, then how can you expect employees to stay with you!

Best answer to give to HR on why am I on notice!

Hi, I have recently left my job and on my notice with 20 days pending. While giving interviews, when the HR asks me what's the notice I say it's 30 days (officially 60 days). But since only 20 days are left, is it better to tell them outright that I'm on notice or wait for them to ask? 1 or 2 replies I have thought of if they ask why I am already on notice is - "In my current role I was not able to leverage and improve my current skills optimally and it was detrimental to my career path of working towards Product from Business Analyst. With the decision to change company and since I have given quite a few interviews in the last 1.5 months, I decided to put down my papers in order to mitigate the risk of not getting an offer due to a longer notice period." I would like some reviews or feedback on this or is there a better answer to give so that I don't lose much leverage during the interview process. Thanks! P.S. This is for a job in India.

Misleading Hiring Process – Need Advice

I applied for a Social Media Manager Intern role and was later asked if I was open to handling e-commerce as well. Thinking it was an additional task, I agreed. After joining, my designation was Brand Solutions, which confused me, but my team lead assured me it was just a formal title. However, for 10 days, I only worked on e-commerce, and then we were suddenly told our actual role was Client Servicing Intern, not Social Media. To make things worse, the company refused to compensate us for the work done and later hired someone else as a Social Media Manager Intern—a role that was still open after our placement. Rejected an Interview Because They Insisted on My Current Salary

Got a call from a recruiter hiring for a Big 4 firm. Everything seemed fine until she kept insisting on knowing my current salary. I told her I wasn’t comfortable sharing it I wanted to be evaluated on market standards, not my past paycheck. She got flustered and said it was "just to check if my current salary was above their budget." I asked, "If it’s a specialized role, shouldn’t my skills matter more than my current pay?" She refused to share the budget for the role but kept pushing for my salary details. The final straw? When she got frustrated and said, "Arey baba, what is this behavior?" Excuse me?? I’m not your friend or acquaintance. I politely declined the interview and ended the call. Probably burned a bridge, but honestly, it’s time candidates stand up for fair pay. Has this happened to you? How do you handle salary questions during hiring?

I have been applying for numerous finance and accounting internships, but I haven't been able to secure one. I am 23 years old, a commerce postgraduate, and currently pursuing CMA, which is taking longer to complete. I now realize how crucial experience is, yet even for internships. I have noticed that companies tend to prefer local candidates. Since I live in Uttarakhand, where job opportunities are scarce, I have been applying in Delhi and nearby areas. Even when I manage to get an interview, the final concern is always about how I would relocate or manage in a different city. I feel stuck in a cycle where I need experience to get an opportunity, yet I can’t gain experience without one. I lacked exposure to the structured career paths involving internships and relevant experience. Did I Just Miss an Opportunity or Was This a Scam?🤔

A month ago, I helped someone with his project through a professional networking group. Out of nowhere, he messaged me saying his company had an open Data Analyst role and asked me to send my resume. Sounded promising, so I sent it. He referred me and said I’d get a call after Monday. Instead, I got a call the very next morning still half-asleep, I stupidly blurted out, "Can I call you back in an hour?" (Brain wasn’t working). The guy said, "Sure, no problem." An hour later, I waited. No call. I followed up. He said he was in a meeting and would call me tomorrow at 11 AM. Next day again, no call. After messaging both the interviewer and my contact, the interviewer finally replied: "The position is already filled." 😑 Now, I don’t know if I actually lost the chance over that one-hour delay or if they were just messing with me. Why even call me in the first place if they had someone else lined up? Was this just bad luck, or did I dodge a shady company? What would you do?

YOE- 6 Tech- Mainframe Hi All, I appeared for an interview for the role of Application developer at Accenture. I've already gone through 4 rounds of interviews. 2 technical (R2,R2) and 2 final (R1,R2) Right after I gave my 4th interview (which went very well), the application was removed from Workday portal and it was replaced by another same application, and I got a mail to schedule R1 of Technical interview. I have no idea what is going on, and I'd really appreciate it if someone can shed some light into this.

Today, I Ghosted a Company for the First Time

After months of job hunting, endless interviews, and countless follow-ups, I finally did something unexpected I ghosted a company before an interview. I cleared 7-8 interviews recently, yet HRs either vanished after round one or ghosted me post-salary discussion. Only one had the decency to say they no longer needed the role. So when another company insisted on multiple rounds before even mentioning salary, I just… couldn’t. I knew the drill. Let the call ring. And ring. Now? I feel guilty. But after being ghosted so many times, maybe HR finally got a taste of their own medicine.
