Politics iseverywhere, in every field not just here any IT field but they cant be seen. work environment - I was completely working from Home (keeping the fact I belong to Hyderabad but they insisted me to work in there city ) so I really cant speak about work environment. Work-life balance -its good so far if you keep your personals with you don't share it to any one , and don't speak about future goals if they know that with in a year you may leave for higher studies or something. Then chances are high to keep you unimportant or least priority no matter how much you perform.
