Although there are vast growth opportunities, however compensation is very minimal. You will motivated for delivering a project, at the same time you will be very disappointed with the pay rise IBM gives. Great work culture and good learning opportunity.
Very minimal pay rise in IBM does not motivate lot of people to stay in the organisation for long.

I am working in IBM Security. IBM got really good work-life balance. The work hours are flexible, no one will pressurize you into doing things.
The hikes are not that great. Even switching projects is a very difficult. If you are a graduate hire then you must atleast work for 18 months in the initial project, no matter you are interested or not.

No good projects in IBM Consulting, all are support projects. If you don't get project with in 2 months, then you are fired(forcefully resignation). Also without PR it's difficult to get project. For everything management will threat to put you in PIP. No salary hike.

IBM is good at work-life balance after working more than 7 years in IBM one thing I can say one will find very rare work place where people will not say anything once job is done , if any one can do their job none will tell anything.
Promotion and appraisal process , one should get judged by his/her work not the relationship having between manager and reportee, relationship has to be good with all but it should not be the only criteria for getting promotion and appraisal. It was really tough for me to leave IBM as it's my dream company since college time I left IBM because of manager.
