Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Finance & Accounts Transitions Lead to oversee the migration of accounting work from the US to India for small to medium-sized clients. This role is instrumental in expanding our India-based finance and accounting teams and optimizing our global operations.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with in-depth expertise in transitioning financial processes while ensuring business continuity and operational efficiency. They will be responsible for designing, executing, and overseeing the end-to-end transition strategy, ensuring seamless knowledge transfer, risk minimization, and achieving cost efficiencies.

This individual will work closely with US-based clients, internal leadership, and cross-functional teams to establish a streamlined workflow, optimize financial reporting mechanisms, and introduce best-in-class accounting practices. Additionally, they will be expected to identify and address any challenges that arise during the transition while ensuring compliance with international accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.

This initiative is a key growth driver for our organization, requiring expertise in strategic planning, process standardization, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement. The position offers a high-impact leadership role contributing to the success and sustainability of our finance and accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end transition of finance and accounting processes from the US to India, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Develop and implement robust transition frameworks, including due diligence, process documentation, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with US and India-based stakeholders, including clients, leadership teams, and cross-functional departments, to align transition strategies with business objectives.
  • Identify potential transition risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Establish and optimize workflows, SLAs, and KPIs for offshore operations to drive efficiency and cost savings.
  • Train and mentor transition teams, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and smooth process adaptation.
  • Monitor post-transition performance, address operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in finance and accounts transitions, focusing on US-based accounting process migration to India.
  • Proven expertise in financial process outsourcing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple transitions simultaneously.
  • Strong expertise in project management, change management, and process reengineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve transition challenges proactively.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including working with US-based clients and internal leadership.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems such as SAGE Intacct, NetSuite, SAP, or similar ledger/ERP solutions.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and US accounting standards.

Preferred Skills:

  • PMP or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • Experience in shared services, BPO, or finance transformation projects.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Process-oriented approach to standards, with flexibility to customize based on client needs.
  • Familiarity with automation and digital transformation initiatives in finance and accounting.
