Round: Test Experience: Verbal-correction of sentences, 2 passages, antonyms, synonyms logical reasoning - all models are in r.s agarwal Total Questions: 75
Round: Technical Interview Experience: Regular hr questions like tell about ur self, hobbies, strengths, any team activities, about paper presented and questions on that, questions on leadership qualities, asked to talk about 'conservation of energy' for few minutes, asked abouts functions or events organised.
Round: Resume Shortlist Experience: The resume was as per the norms of our institute’s placement office. One should mention only relevant points in the resume because if they ask you something from the resume and you are unable to answer then they will reject you bluntly.
Round: Test Experience: In the written test the questions asked were mainly aptitude based. The company had sent us some sample question papers before the written test. The questions in the test appeared from those sample papers only. Most of the questions were tricky – questions were framed in a very lengthy manner and the answers or the data required to solve the question was hidden in the last few lines. Many students wasted their time analysing such questions completely. Out of the 80 odd students who appeared for the test only 11 qualified for the next round.
Round: Technical Interview Experience: In the technical interview he asked me whether I knew programming, I replied in the negative. He asked me to suggest an algorithm to a problem. The problem was based on swapping of numbers. At first I gave a very bland reply. The interviewer wasn’t convinced by my reply and gave me another opportunity to explain me the process. This time I managed to answer appropriately. The interviewer then enquired about my internship and my projects.
Round: HR Interview Experience: The HR interview was taken by some top company official. He asked me to narrate any challenging incident in my life that I had to struggle through to emerge out of it. One important thing to note here is that your CGPA would speak for you – if you have a good CGPA half the battle is won.
College Name: IIT ROORKEE Motivation: TCS recruits a large number of students from various colleges across the country. Knowing this fact beforehand I was not much interested in joining the company. I appeared for its process as a last resort. The company had organized a pre-placement talk. I attended the talk and before appearing for the first round I went through the brochure that was given out during the pre-placement talk.
You do not require any specific information regarding the company to ace the interviews or any questionnaire.

Interview Preparation Tips
Round: Test Experience: Fifty people appeared for the test out of which sixteen were shortlisted.
Round: Case Study Interview Experience: How would you promote a newly launched product? What marketing strategies would you use? They asked very simple case studies.
Round: Technical Interview Experience: Test was based on data analysis, mainly maths. The interview was to see how much 'C' and probability you know. Tips: Customized preparation is must along with good CGPA.
Skill Tips: Work details about your internship helps! Skills: General knowledge, Technical knowledge College Name: IIT Madras
Round: Interview Experience: Its not an elimination round, you can go with your informal clothes on. Any one who has prepared for day 1 and day2 companies will get through this round. Just read news papers and learn to shoot graphs here and there even if it has got absolutely no facts and definitely practice to write a lot. Tips: Be prepared with both for and against the topic coz the interviewer keeps changing the topic in between the GD.The topic was same as that of the case study Don’t write bullet-ed points, this makes your cases look small. Try applying your vocabulary spectrum. Try to give exhibits even if you don’t know any facts.
Round: Group Discussion Experience: 12 students on the table, one interviewer. Tips: Play old school .But don’t wait for your chance, just break into it, but with a gentlemanly attitude. Try giving examples. Throw arbitrary facts to prove your points, if you don’t remember the real figures.
Round: Interview Tips: Don’t start with your brilliancein your core subject. Tell them you hate your department. Convince them that you won’t ditch them for a Ph.D or an MBA. Tell them you have a friend at Wipro who keeps giving you intel about how great the company is. Look confident and if at times you can be funny, they will appreciate it!!
Skill Tips: 8 and above CGPA is required. Later it was lowered to 7.9, mine was 7.98. They mainly ask HR questions, so being involved in Extra-academic activities gives you more that you can talk of. I had an eye for coding in C++. Helped me on this, but my extra-academics list was enough. Coding was just a bonus. If they are non core its better. But my both the internships were core based. You just have to convince them why you are dropping from core. College Name: IIT KHARAGPUR
Round: Test Experience: CAT type questions on maths and English. Speed matters. Preparation for CAT helps, I did not sit for CAT but I went through is DI material before the test to increase my speed. Questions in general are easy. Conduct yourself professionally. Deloitte decides to allot you a profile depending on your score in this test most probably. So make sure you do well in this test. I think the highest scoring candidates are shortlisted for the S&O profile, though I am not sure about it. Tips: If you are up for a career in management consulting and can't possibly be shortlisted by Mckinsey or BCG, this is your golden opportunity. You have to do well in the test for it. Deloitte is one of the best places in the world for management consulting after MBB firms and I believe some people might have gotten selected for this profile just because they did well in this test (by fair or unfair means!!)
Round: Group Discussion Experience: You are given a case. Your group of 10 has to find a solution for a client. The process lasts for about 30 minutes. The key is staying calm and composed and not disputing and challenging others violently! At the end you are supposed to give a presentation on the problem and it solution, 5 minutes for each member. Tips: Speak less rather than speaking trash. Introduce yourself first when asked to give your part of the presentation and behave professionally, they check more on your professional behavior than the effectiveness of your solution. 50 % of the students passing this round generally make it to the offer. Hence this is the most important round. If you have done very well in this round you will probably do well in the PI.
Round: Behavorial Interview Experience: Behavioral questions base on your resume. I had networked a bit with my interviewer before the interview because both of us were waiting to enter the interview room and it felt awkward not talking to him. I think that might have helped.
Dont go for a technology profile hoping you will get to enter the management consulting space some day. Technology consulting is a good career choice only if you are passionate about it, or else it is a disaster, since the only exit route is an MBA application. Dont go without reading about the company, it was a big source of worry for me Tips: Answer the questions diplomatically. Appearing confident helps. I kept a smiling face no matter how tensed I was, that might help. Know all the points in your resume and prepare to answer all behavioral questions you can possibly think of. Have some questions to ask at the end of the interview.
General Tips: Its good if you have some extra academic involvement to have some discussion points during your PI. Or when you are asked about an achievement you are very proud of. Skill Tips: I felt the company loves to hire calm and professional people who can articulate themselves properly. And do well in the written test if you want a profile of your choice. Deloitte is probably the only company to be able to compete with the likes of Mckinsey in management consulting and IBM in technology, at the same time. No doubt, it is a great brand name to work with. It is highly rated in both the fields. Strategy and Operations is a very good career if you are looking for management consulting, they have a program to train and sponsor you for the best B-Schools in the world. The technology profiles are good if you are passionate about technology and its integration. So be careful about your choices. College Name: IIT Kharagpur
When my turn came in I walked into the room and Found two people sitting over there. Wishing them Good Afternoon i was asked to take my seat and I sat comfortably. This is noted very carefully. I had a eye to eye contact with both of them. I handed over them my certificates for them to go through.

Since I am having a family to look after and with the present job I am unable to keep my family with me and also since my job requires me to be available 24/7, 365 days this was not a problem when I did not have these responsibilities but now it has become compulsion for me to look after and for me I think what’s the use of earning the money and not enjoying them with family.
Interviewer: Ok tell me about yourself?
Me: I told about my schooling and the place I hail from and the job I was doing in brief.

Interviewer: Here is a passage and can you read it for me.
Me: I understood why he was asking so coolly I took time and read it comfortably.
(Now the interviewer showed me his laptop and told me to hear a conversation. I took the head set and listened the conversation)
Interviewer: What was the person trying to tell? Me: I told him that the person was telling that he wanted a technical issue to be resolved pertaining to his Laptop.
Interviewer: What is the solution you have for him?
Me: I told him the procedure of how to solve his issue.
Interviewer: He smiled at me and said I would like to speak with my friend who wants to ask you about information. He works as a SME (subject Man Expert) and he picked up his cell and connected to that person and handed over me the phone and walked out of the room.
Interviewer: Hello Kiran I am Sam
Me: Hello sam
Interviewer: I work as a SME and hope Dennis told about me
Me: yes
Interviewer: Can you tell me how does a browser work? Me: I said do you want me to explain the functionality of the browser. Interviewer: yes Me: I gave him the information of what he wanted. Interviewer: can you tell me some thing about cookie and what it does? Me: I told him the definition of cookie and the role it plays in the Brower functionality Interviewer: Ok what will you do to change the settings of the browser? Me: I explained him the process. Interviewer: Tell me something about registry in windows? Me: I told about the registry and told him that when ever an application is installed then it is this place that the registry keys are saved and based on this when ever we run the application it will fetch information from here and runs the application. Interviewer: What happens when these registry keys are deleted or corrupted and how can you delete the registry keys? Me: If the registry keys are deleted or corrupted then the application may not run or if it runs also it will create problems some where else and to delete the registry keys we need type in Regedit command in the run window and press enter andthen from the registry window search for the keys to delete and selecting them we need to press delete key .Interviewer: Do you know Computer networks? Me: Not fully but I have a fair idea Interviewer: Ok No issues. Thanks a lot. Me: thanks a lot and gave back the cell to Dennis. Interviewer: How was the interaction? Me: It was good (Dennis got a call and he typed in some thing in his laptop. I knew it was from sam) Interviewer: Ok kiran please wait out side will get back to you in a few min. Me: I said yes and walked out of the room and was little anxious but the people who were waiting outside wanted to inquire why it has taken a lot of time. After some time Dennis along with Sam came up to the lounge area and called me and spoke to me saying that they were satisfied with my interview and told that they were checking my accent and my technical knowledge and told me that I was selected for this round and need to attend a written technical test and also if I clear there will be a HR round and if cleared will get the appointment letter. Then they handed over a sealed envelop and told me to give to the HR I was a bit relaxed now and was waiting to go for the next round people around me congratulated. After few min a interview board member accompanied us in the Cab to another facility a few hundred meter away from this facility. When we came to this facility we were given tags to enter the facility and Pooja came and called me into the cabin.
Round: HR Interview Experience: HR Round HR: Good afternoon Kiran and took the packet Me: I said good Afternoon HR: Now there will be a written test and that too MCQ type go through the question paper and answer them and you have 30 minutes. Me: I took the paper and sat in the place assigned and went through the paper and answered them and after the time is up I handed over the answer sheet HR: Please sit in the waiting room I will be back in few min.Me: I said Ok and waited in the waiting room. After some time the HR came. HR: Congrats you cleared the written test Me: Thanks HR: So you are a defense person and where are you working? Me: Yes, I am working in Air Force Station Delhi. HR: So you want to join a pvt organization from a govt organization, don’t you feel that you are loosing security of job?Me: Yes, I want to join a corporate sector since it was a dream for me and I think the circumstance have paved the way for me since I am also not interested to be in Air Force because I am away from my family and also this posting makes it very difficult for me to be with my family and it will be for five years. Secondly I don’t feel any that I am loosing Job security since any how I have to retire after 20 years of service and I have finished 12 years and I cannot justify to my duty if I am not interested. So owing to moral grounds I want to join a pvt organization. HR: So you think that your family comes first than your job? Me: It depends on how a person thinks but for me both are important because without money I cannot survive and without a job I cannot earn so I balance both Job and Family and prioritize them. HR: What is the remuneration you are expecting from us? ME: I am expecting a good remuneration from you but I would be happy if I am paid as per your organizations standards so that I might not feel that I am left out in comparison with my colleagues. HR: Are you willing to work in any shift? Me: That would not be a problem for me because I have been doing duties in Air Force on the call and 24/7. So I do not have any problems HR: Ok you may go..Me: I thanked her and walked out of the room. After an hour the HR came and gave me all the details and told that I got Selected!!! This gave me the confidence that I can do well in the future. Though I did not join the Job it was a very good experience for me and it helped me in an interview which I attended in Bangalore in an IT company and which I have joined as a Quality Assurance Lead.
