Hi, I am a Bcom graduate year (2022) pass out, I was preparing for civil service, I cleared the pre exams but was not able to clear the mains examination so i decided to switch to finance. I appeared for FRM (Financial risk management) part one in November 2024 and i cleared. Having said that i cannot find any internship related to frm I have decided to appear for part 2 in August 2025 . I have no prior experience and I have gap years. I am really worried even if I clear frm will I get a good job?? How do I justify my gap years. If somebody reading this could help me out then it would be great. Moreover I am from Kolkata any kind of referrals or advice would be highly appreciated I really need help. Any CA, CFA or FRM holder Reading my post please help me and guide me. . Any kind of internship related to market ( trading and research) will also help. Any body working in private bank, NBFC, asset management, mutual fund, big 4 like Deloitte, kpmg, ey, would help alot

Advice - Equity Research Analyst as a Career ?

Daily routine of reading over 100+ pages, continuously analyzing annual reports and making Models makes me feel drained. The deeper I go , more technical knowledge is required and it feels exhausting. Given the work I put into equity research analysis (ERA), the pay (4-5 LPA) doesn’t seem to match the effort involved. On the other hand, I have friends in marketing who engage more with people, less demanding and earn the same amount. Some days analyzing businesses feels intellectually stimulating, which also leads to passive income from investing in stocks—creating 2 income streams. But on other days, the work feels draining and frustrating, and the thought of looking at another chart makes me wanna punch the screen. I was sure that I wanted a career in equity research, and my entire resume is built around core finance. However, after completing an internship in ERA, I’m having doubts me to question whether this is the right path, which is leading to a bit of a career crisis.

IDBI Bank (and many other private banks) are teaching Post Graduate Diploma In Banking & Finance (PGDBF) for Rs.3 lakh. If you pass the exam then you'll get a job that pays about 50k/month with a 3 year bond. If you break the bond then you'll have to pay about Rs.2 lakhs. I think this is a pretty good option for fresh graduates to pursue. Pays better than most IT companies. Don't you think?
