The only advantage working at Packt is flexi working hours, self learning and opportunity to work with skilled external entities like authors , tech reviewers etc.

Dislikes

There are no career or growth prospects for experienced professionals. Meager pay and unskilled Managers who have never worked with any IT company (including the senior management). Ironically the company neither uses any IT tools for research nor employs skilled IT professionals despite being a knowledge solution provider for the IT industry. It is said that people work for people in any organization. The attrition rate is quite high which validates the above fact because there are no such managers at any level who can provide sensible guidance to executives. Earns you enough to pay bills !

Welcome to the Packt, things start smoothly over here as you are in the training period it's your honeymoon period over here. As you get used to the work culture, you will be exploited totally on bases of promotion, to be precise then it's just 15% hike. You will find the best environment over here and flex timing, here most of the crowd is of youngster ranging from 22 to 26 for this role. There's no particular points to dislike this place, the scope of growing and building a lasting career comes to a stall at a point. Might be different for different roles but it's a great place to work.

Packt follows a open culture, where you have freedom to work independetely, you can take decision of your own. But few top team and team leaders has spoiled the culture of office environment. HR (Business Partners) could not take a right decision and the leaders are taking advantage of this mismanagement.

Dislikes

There is no growth plan in the company, nor any Job security, few team needs to work 12 to 14 hours in a day. No appreciation from Managers. They have stopped appraisal and started COL., which is most dissatisfaction amongs the employee. As far as Learning concerns, you will get good opportunity to learn more skills. thats the only one parameters which I liked very much in the company.
