Flexible timings is something that's amazing about Packt. You get to work from home as well.

Dislikes

If you work at Packt you won't have a personal life. You'll be forced to work day and night. The work distribution is very bad, some people have very little work and some have alot of work. Honestly, if you are unlucky, you'll get the worst team and alot of work.

The company is in shambles, and the restructuring process is nothing short of chaotic and farcical. Senior management appears completely out of touch, and their incompetence is cascading downward. Those at non-management level, who genuinely worked hard are affected badly. We were asked to reapply for our existing positions but the process is blatantly flawed and lacks credibility. As per their recent changes, I applied for multiple openings and submitted my assessments with pure studies and through analysis, but upper management dismissed all applications with silly reasons. Favoritism is the only criteria here for a retention. It does not matter if you consistently achieve over 100% targets or if you got your promotion through months of hard work. Decisions are being made purely on the basis of personal relationships and who has ingratiated themselves with top-level managers and leaders, with no regard for performance, results, or actual contributions. Personally, I know a Publishing Manager from one of the top performing team who never signed a single project contract in a entire year and yet is still safe and secured another product level position. How absurd is that? Another example, a Project Manager with over 6 years in managing and publishing experience was replaced by a incompetent Production Manager who hold experience only in designs and layouts. The retained people are the same individuals who have spent 10+ years nurturing personal relationships with leadership, while those driving real results and progress for the company are being dismissed without hesitation. Packt Publishing is a wonderful company for freshers. It's a good bridge from college life to work life, as it eases you into it. The positives are: Fexible shift timing Casual dress code Chilled-out work culture Faster promotions

Constant changes in processes, team structure, etc. stability is less Growth is limited for individual contributors
