I worked in inside sales at Edureify, where my primary responsibility was selling a course priced at 3 lakh rupees. For the majority of students who couldn't afford this amount (about 95%), we facilitated loans through NBFCs under a "pay after placement" scheme. The course promised a guaranteed job with a salary of 5 lakh rupees perannum after completion, which was later downgraded to a 3 lakh rupee guarantee. However, less than 5% of students have secured any jobs, and many didn't even get internships. Despite the company's promises, most students, primarily from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, ended up with significant debt. As the loans were processed using students' and their parents' documents, banks are now pursuing repayments, leading to bounced EMIs every month. The course, which was sold for 3 lakh rupees, is available for a fraction of the price (around 5,000 rupees) on other platforms. The company misled both students and employees, making false promises about the outcomes.
