Citi has multiple initiatives to help employee skill themselves, also it provides good compensation to right candidate who is at right place at right time.

It's advantage of having options for employees to skill themselves remains a distant fruit to most of starting or mid level workforce as most of those spend maximum of their time and overtime working/supporting daily application. Nothing. The company especially the Bengaluru Location is like a Milk production Diary and the employees are the livestock. Once they are milked enough then they are sent out for Slaughter.

Dislikes

Everything. They hire you at a very high package, in fact way more than current market trends so that you don't get employed elsewhere after you join Citi. Then the work culture, management, pathetic bosses, layoffs and always uncertainty makes it so difficult to survive. Eventually you succumb or go with the flow to lose your mental balance.

Organizational culture. People are sitting for 17-20 years and have completely spoiled the environment. Too much politics across maximum teams I came across and interacted. More than work 90% of time goes in office politics. HR is good for nothing.

Although it's depends on team/project, I feel there is always work pressure. You'll get highlighted by following processes and not by doing actual work that you hired for. Parental insurance is around 60% heigher side

Compensation is much better than the market standard Prior to reorganization(mid-2024), the work environment was fine, offering good work-life balance Employees were treated accordingly to their roles and experience

After reorganization, only onsite position/team members are considered for lead, manager, principal engineer, with onsite role preserved due to senior management being based there most of the work is done by offshore, but it is projected only onsite employees contributed because to safeguard their role and senior management wants tobe in saved position Offshore employees are treated like subordinates to onsite employees, even at the VP level Employees with 18+ years exp are treated and compared with juniors who is having less than 4 years exp Employees are under immense pressure, indirectly being forced to resign Suggestion to Management conduct a voting/poll among existing employees to determine who is willing to opt for voluntary retirement or leave with severance pay instead of using phycological pressure to force self-resignation...Read More

Lot of governance and process. They still living in stone age during cutting edge technology. There is no clear vision by senior management and not even bother to change. Think twice before to join

Positives are the Ramanujan IT sez itself with lots of greenery with world class garden and buildings - There used to be lot of Table tennis players which I have learnt and become good at TT after office hours (2015-16 period) but it sort of reduced after COB initiative as many members where shifted to other cities - Exposure to international clients and banking systems

- Almost all of the top management(C11, C12, C13 etc)are upper caste Brahmins - During my time 95 percent of TL- C09s and Manager- C10s were Brahmins across NAM, Singapore, India and Australia ops but recently I heard that they are giving promotions to other communities as well. But only the salary and levels are given not the entire team management role. It is very demotivating to know even after years of hard work you are not given promotions and good appraisals. I guess world is not fair I found out the hard way. - No regard for your health, due to my demanding investment role, handling huge sums i used to have lunch someday at 2.30, someday @ 1.30, sometimes at 3.30 or 4.30 in the evening, this is due to different cutoff time. And working 11 to 15 hours depending upon the volume and there is commute for another 2 hours per day. I literally felt like living in office!! After all the hard work living as bachelor getting proper food @ 11 and 12 in night was hard. I usually show all the frustration by having large amount of food at late night. Due to this unhealthy life style and work culture I had developed a health condition called GERD/reflux where your splinter muscles loosens and tend to vomit a lot. Got 3 endoscopy done first was in 2019 last was this year 2024. I couldn't go to a job due to this condition. - Every job is demanding so do your job but it is not your life. Take good care of yourself by having small breaks and have some fruits in between. Stay away from smoking and drinking. Work Culture , Politics , pathetic WLB , most of the employees are brought in from the service based companies , like WITCH , LTI etc , and they do bring their culture in to CITI , the toxic way of commanding , speaking , and doing 1 showing 10 , etc. Try to avoid this org in all possible means.
