It's a govt organisation. Hence even though you are on 5 yr contract, you will not be terminated unless you do some criminal activities.

1. Salary as per govt. Mandate but no additional perks of govt. Employee. 2. Promotion extreme slow. They want people to leave so they delay promotion -- trying to save money. 3. Some teams -- no work, some teams -- extreme work and no holiday and bad management . But everyone gets same salary and same appraisals. 4. Talented people from top tier colleges come together to solve problems. Job security and work-life balance are great.

The performance-based incentive is not there. You get promoted with everyone else even if you do or don't do your work. Also they don't have lateral hiring which makes the codebase screwed up. I mean no offense but undergrad students dont know how to code and have no idea of design patterns. Since an outsider can not tell them how to code more efficient this keeps on piling up (new undergrad keep coming up)and at one point managing code is too difficult. Not taking an outsider is like marrying your cousin and thus diminishing the gene pool....Read More
