Sr. Manager - Services & Stores

Role & responsibilities

1. Procurement & Purchasing Management:
• Oversee the procurement of services and store supplies for the plant and ensure timely availability of materials.
• Manage supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effective sourcing, quality, and timely delivery.
• Lead negotiations with vendors and contractors, securing competitive pricing and favorable terms.
2. Inventory & Stores Management:
• Supervise the storage, handling, and inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment, maintaining optimal stock levels.
• Implement inventory control measures to reduce wastage and ensure the right materials are available when needed.
• Monitor and manage the stock movement and keep accurate records of inventory transactions.
3. Supplier Relationship Management:
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure consistent supply of materials and services.
• Ensure compliance with supplier contracts and delivery schedules.
4. Cost Control & Budgeting:
• Work closely with finance to establish and manage the budget for procurement and stores.
• Analyze and control procurement and store-related costs, working to optimize the overall expenditure.
5. Process Optimization:
• Continuously assess and improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination between procurement, stores, and production.
6. Compliance & Reporting:
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulations related to procurement, stores, and safety.
• Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, inventory levels, and financial performance for senior management.
7. Team Leadership & Training:
• Lead and mentor a team of storekeepers, purchase officers, and procurement specialists.
• Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team remains knowledgeable on industry best practices and the latest technologies.
8. Safety & Risk Management:
• Ensure safety procedures are followed in the procurement and storage areas.
• Identify potential risks in procurement and inventory management and implement preventive measures.
9. Continuous Improvement:
• Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and store operations.
• Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in procurement and supply chain management within the iron and steel industry.
