Assistant Manager - Purchase - Mechanical

Role & responsibilities

1. Mechanical Procurement Management:

• Oversee procurement of mechanical equipment, machinery, spare parts, and consumables for the DRI plant.
• Ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials while maintaining quality standards.
• Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to achieve optimal pricing and delivery schedules.

2. Vendor Development and Management:

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for mechanical equipment and parts.
• Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships to ensure a stable supply chain.
• Conduct periodic performance evaluations of suppliers and address any issues proactively.

3. SAP and ERP Utilization:

• Use SAP, SAP HANA, and ERP software to manage procurement processes efficiently.
• Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and documentation of all procurement activities.

4. Technical Evaluation:

• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to understand technical specifications and requirements for mechanical purchases.
• Assess vendor proposals to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.

5. Budget and Cost Management:

• Monitor and control budgets for mechanical procurement activities.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or delivery timelines.

6. Compliance and Documentation:

• Ensure all procurement processes adhere to company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive records, including purchase orders, contracts, and compliance documents.

7. Market Research and Analysis:

• Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and new technologies in mechanical equipment and components.
• Conduct market research to identify alternative vendors and innovative solutions.

8. Coordination and Problem-Solving:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and finance, to align procurement with business goals.
• Act as the point of contact for resolving issues related to mechanical procurement.

9. Continuous Improvement:

• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement operations.
• Conduct periodic reviews of procurement strategies to align with organizational objectives.
