Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior System Engineer with extensive experience in the design, integration, and optimization of Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This key role will be responsible for ensuring the technical excellence and successful integration of systems in large-scale renewable energy projects. The position will work closely with the Head of Design and Engineering to oversee system design, system modeling, technical validation, and performance optimization across all stages of solar and BESS projects. The Senior System Engineer will be involved in both technical design and troubleshooting activities to ensure the highest level of system performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Design & Integration:
• Lead the technical design, integration, and optimization of solar PV systems and BESS solutions for projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, construction) to ensure the design meets both performance and regulatory requirements.
• Design and develop system layouts, including electrical and mechanical designs for solar arrays, energy storage systems, inverters, and balance of system components.
• Ensure seamless integration of solar and BESS components into the overall power system, considering grid connectivity, safety, and performance standards.
• System Modeling & Simulation:
• Perform system modeling and simulations to evaluate system performance, including energy yield analysis, power flow, and grid interaction.
• Use advanced software tools (e.g., PVsyst, Homer, MATLAB, DIgSILENT) to perform simulations and feasibility studies for energy production and storage efficiency.
• Optimize system configurations to maximize energy generation and storage while minimizing operational costs and system losses.
• Technical Validation & Performance Optimization:
• Validate system designs and configurations through performance testing, including commissioning and post-installation evaluations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues during system integration and commissioning, ensuring that systems are optimized for maximum efficiency.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of solar and BESS systems post-installation and provide recommendations for improvements.
• Collaboration with Project Teams:
• Work closely with the Head of Design and Engineering to align system design with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Provide technical support to project management teams, contractors, and vendors during installation, commissioning, and operation of solar and BESS systems.
• Ensure that all technical aspects of the project, including system performance, reliability, and compliance, are thoroughly addressed.
• Compliance & Standards:
• Ensure all systems are designed and implemented in compliance with industry standards, local codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IEC, UL, BIS).
• Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in solar and energy storage systems to apply innovative solutions to projects.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for all system designs, configurations, simulations, and performance analysis.
• Produce technical reports for senior management, stakeholders, and clients, detailing system performance, optimization strategies, and technical specifications.
• Provide feedback to the design and engineering teams on lessons learned, technical challenges, and opportunities for design improvements.
• Mentoring & Team Collaboration:
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, providing technical expertise and fostering a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment.
• Lead technical discussions and workshops to improve the technical skills and knowledge of the team.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, or a related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in system engineering, design, and integration for solar energy and/or energy storage systems (BESS).
• Proven experience in designing and optimizing large-scale solar PV systems and BESS integration, including grid connection and compliance with local and international standards.
• Hands-on experience with system modeling, simulations, and performance analysis tools (e.g., PVsyst, Homer, MATLAB, DIgSILENT).
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of solar energy systems, battery storage technologies, and grid integration.
• In-depth knowledge of power electronics, inverters, charge controllers, and energy management systems (EMS).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system-level issues.
• Proficient in using technical software tools for design and simulation (e.g., PVsyst, HOMER, AutoCAD, MATLAB).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also being able to independently manage and execute tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications:
• Certification in Solar PV Design (e.g., NABCEP, AEE Certified Energy Manager, or equivalent).
• Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, Prince2) would be an added advantage.
• Technical Knowledge:
• Expertise in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technologies, including system design, modeling, and integration.
• Familiarity with international standards (e.g., IEC 61724, IEC 62109, UL 9540, etc.) for solar and BESS systems.

Working Conditions:

• Based in Delhi or Jaipur with periodic travel to project sites for design validation, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work both in the office and in the field, with flexibility in managing remote teams and on-site coordination.
• Some travel may be required for technical meetings, site assessments, and vendor/supplier coordination.
