Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Solar Farms & Grid Integration

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to design, plan, and implement solar farm projects with seamless power grid integration. The ideal candidate should possess deep technical expertise, strong project management skills, and a commitment to delivering high-performance renewable energy solutions. Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is highly desired to support advanced energy storage and optimization strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Electrical Design & Development:
• Develop and review electrical designs for solar farms, including layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and schematics for grid integration.
• Create and maintain detailed scheme drawings for electrical equipment, including control panels, transformers (HT & LT), and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Indian and international electrical standards and codes.
2. Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Material Planning:
• Prepare accurate and detailed BOQs for materials and equipment required for solar farm projects.
• Optimize material selection to balance cost efficiency, performance, and durability.
3. System Testing and Commissioning:
• Perform comprehensive system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to ensure optimal performance and grid synchronization.
• Resolve technical issues during implementation to ensure seamless operations.
4. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS):
• Incorporate BESS into solar farm designs for energy optimization and peak load management.
• Design control systems for seamless integration of BESS with solar farms and the power grid.
5. Project Management:
• Lead project planning, scheduling, and execution while adhering to timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals.
• Prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders and management.
6. Compliance and Documentation:
• Ensure all designs meet statutory and regulatory requirements in the Indian context.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including design reports, test results, and operation manuals.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

1. Education:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree will be a plus).

1. Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the solar industry, or 5 years of specialized experience in solar farm design and power grid integration.

1. Technical Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of electrical design, including scheme drawings for control panels, transformers (HT & LT), and auxiliary equipment.
• Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools).
• Understanding of Indian grid standards and renewable energy policies.

1. BESS Knowledge:

• Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage Systems, including their design, integration, and operation.

1. Project Management:

• Skilled in project planning, budget management, and stakeholder coordination.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a focus on quality and efficiency.

1. Testing and Commissioning:

• Competence in system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning for optimal performance.

1. Communication:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of SCADA systems and their integration with solar farms.
• Familiarity with grid codes and policies issued by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and other Indian regulatory bodies.
• Certification in renewable energy systems or project management (e.g., PMP).
