Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Control Engineer to manage and oversee quality assurance and control for Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in the Delhi/Jaipur region. This senior-level role will involve ensuring the successful execution of quality management systems, inspections, audits, and compliance throughout all phases of the project lifecycle. The position will report directly to the Head of Design and Engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive the quality performance and success of large-scale renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Assurance & Control Leadership:
• Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive quality control strategies, systems, and procedures for solar and BESS projects.
• Oversee quality assurance activities during the entire project lifecycle, including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and verifications to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Establish key quality performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and report on project quality metrics.
• Project Management & Collaboration:
• Work closely with the Head of Design and Engineering and project teams to ensure alignment of quality objectives with project goals.
• Coordinate quality control efforts across various project stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and adherence to quality standards.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the engineering and design teams on quality issues, offering solutions to mitigate risks and non-conformities.
• Risk Management & Problem-Solving:
• Identify and address potential quality risks and challenges during design, construction, and testing phases.
• Lead investigations and root-cause analysis for quality-related issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure that any deviations or defects are identified, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner.
• Regulatory Compliance & Standards Adherence:
• Ensure all solar and BESS systems meet the required local and international standards (e.g., IEC, UL, BIS) and regulatory codes.
• Stay updated with evolving regulations, codes, and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Develop and manage the quality documentation process, ensuring all necessary certifications, test reports, and inspection records are maintained accurately.
• Supplier & Contractor Management:
• Evaluate and select qualified suppliers and contractors based on their ability to meet quality standards.
• Oversee the quality assurance process for materials, equipment, and components to ensure compliance before and during installation.
• Perform regular inspections of contractors work to ensure adherence to quality control procedures, and support them in resolving any issues that arise.
• Training & Mentorship:
• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and on-site staff regarding quality control standards and processes.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and a focus on quality in all aspects of project execution.
• Share knowledge and best practices with the team to elevate the overall quality control capability.
• Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
• Prepare detailed quality reports, including audits, inspections, and test results, for review by senior management and the Head of Design and Engineering.
• Continuously review and improve quality management processes, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• Experience:
• At least 8 years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, or related roles within the solar, energy storage, or renewable energy sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including system design, installation, commissioning, and operational testing.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale renewable energy projects and leading quality assurance functions across multiple stakeholders.
• Skills:
• Strong expertise in quality management systems (QMS), with experience in ISO 9001 and IEC standards.
• Proficiency in quality control tools, inspection techniques, and documentation software (e.g., MS Office, AutoCAD, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills to address complex quality-related issues.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with contractors, suppliers, and senior management.
• Leadership experience, including the ability to manage and guide a quality control team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications:
• Certifications in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) or project management (e.g., PMP).
• Technical Knowledge:
• Familiarity with the latest developments in energy storage technologies and solar system innovations.
• Prior hands-on experience in BESS design, battery technology, and large-scale project implementation.
• Local Knowledge:
• Familiarity with Indian energy regulations, standards, and codes for renewable energy systems.

Working Conditions:

• Based in Delhi or Jaipur with regular travel to project sites across the region.
• Ability to work in both office settings and on-site (outdoor, exposure to heavy machinery and electrical systems).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
