Experience: There was no written test or group discussion. There was a resume based shortlisting. Basically this company checks the technical background of the student, including specific projects which are of the same branch or area which they want, like experience with engineering software. They strongly favor a student with an internship in a foreign university.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: Technical questions will generally be based on your resume and your experiences firstly then they will move on to general technical questions. According to my resume, I was asked questions on geotechnical earthquake engineering and after that I was asked some general questions on structural engineering like what is the 2D stiffness matrix for truss element, what is flat slab construction, some BM diagrams, etc.
They also asked me the general HR questions like what are my strengths and weakness, why should they choose me and how am I suitable for the profile offered. They also asked me about my future goals and whether I am comfortable with traveling and working outside. They generally want people who can go outside India and still be a good fit within team with people from different nationalities.

Experience: The shortlist was entirely based on resume. According to me the criterion for being short listed was a good CGPA or an international internship. Midas people generally want to ensure that the candidate to be recruited would be able to adapt and live comfortably in South Korea.I prepared resume keeping in mind the areas of interest that would suit the company’s requirements. The companies that recruit students from all departments usually tend to recruit students seeking interests in banking and management subjects, I knew about this and while applying I non-core companies I specified my areas of interest as these subjects.
Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The next round was the GD and again the topic that was allotted to my group was FDI in retail. There were 9 candidates in all in my group, out of which 3 got selected for the next round.
Round: Technical Interview
Experience: One must be prepared to answer any question related to core subjects while applying in a core company, for instance if a company wants to recruit candidates as structural engineers then the company need not necessarily ask questions related to structural engineering only. They would quite certainly ask you any technical questions related to your areas of interest specified in the resume.
The most commonly asked H.R. (Human Resource) question ‘Tell me about yourself.’ generally proves to be decisive question. This question tends to direct the flow of the interview, thus one must appropriately frame an answer to this question before coming for the interview.
In Midas there were two rounds of interviewThe first interview was a technical interview. The questions asked were related completely to structural engineering. Next they asked me whether I would be able to survive in South Korea and also to narrate an incident or an event in my life to prove that I will be able to survive the conditions in South Korea. The interview went good and I got selected to the next round of the interview.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: This interview was an HR interview. The interviewer asked me questions like:Why do you prefer our company?
Would it be good with you if we do not shift you in Mumbai after 2 years?The interview again went well because one of my friends had an interview in South Korea consequently he got selected and I did not.

Motivation: Midas is a core civil engineering company. The location offered was South Korea. South Korea is not a preferred place for many candidates in spite of good living conditions.

Interview Preparation Tips
Experience: The company conducted a shortlist on the basis of the resume. I expected that the criterion would be a good CGPA or a foreign internship, but I had neither, thus my selection for the next round came as a surprise to me. It was later on that I realised that the various competitions that I had won and about which I had mentioned in my resume paved way for my selection for the next round. Out of the 85 people who submitted their resume only 19 got selected for the interview round.It is on the basis of the resume that questions are asked; hence you have to be fully aware of the stuff you have written in your resume. Also in front of the interview panel you have to prove what you are saying by constantly giving examples based on your resume.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: The interview was an HR as well as technical interview. The technical questions were mainly related to earthquake engineering which was my area of interest. In one of the questions the interviewer asked me to draw a graph of ‘Sa/g vs t’ and to explain it. I managed to draw it and also explained it right. However I did not get selected.
Tips: During the interview it is up to you to direct the flow of the interview. You have to keep the interviewer well within your area of interest.

Experience: I mentioned about all my credentials in my resume in a very compact and precise manner, so that more information in conveyed in few words. This I hoped would also impress the evaluators.
I had previously prepared a resume for my internship. I prepared my job resume with the help of this resume. I applied for only 2 companies and while applying in these companies I used the same resume but only ameliorated my areas of interest.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: The company shortlisted candidates on the basis of their resume. What I inferred from the shotlisting procedure was that one only needed to possess some research experience and a good internship to get shortlisted. For Midas 14 candidates were shortlisted from the Civil Engineering department.
The only round the company conducted was the personal interview round. The interview was of 40 minutes duration. Surprisingly I wasn’t asked any technical questions throughout the interview though the others were asked a few of them. In the technical questions that were asked to others the interviewers mainly focused on structural engineering part. I was only asked some H.R. questions. They were basically trying to assess my personality through their questions.

Experience: I used only one resume for all the companies that I applied to. I mentioned my extra-curricular activities and my projects, with the projects relevant to the profile on offer getting higher priority.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: For the HR Interviews I prepared sample answers to some questions. The company carried out a short-listing process. The criterion for being short-listed was only the CGPA. The shortlisted candidates were called for the interviews.The interview panel consisted of three members. One of them was constantly bombarding me with technical questions, whereas the other two were doing an assessment of my personality ensuring that survival outside India won’t be a problem for me.The technical questions were based on my areas of interest i.e. on IC engines and fluid machinery. The questions on fluid machinery were mainly from pumps. In one of the questions i was asked that if water at certain pressure is kept on ground level, then till what height will the water rise). The other question was to state the differences between compressor, blower and fan. There were no questions asked from IC engines.
