Round: Test
Experience: In quantitative aptitude i dont remember the questing exactly but alsomost all questings are similer to the questions in RS Agarwaal.. In reasoning and analytical section they will ask puzzles and if u read shakuntala devi and jimmers puzzle book it is more than sufficient.. In verbal section they have given around 2 passages and 5 questions for each passage dont waste more time in this section because it is time consuming.. they have given some fill in the blanks questions where we have to search for synonyms and antonyms No technical section was there

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Basically i am from Mechanical back ground they dint asked any questions related to software.... They asked questions like how do you update your self regarding your technical knowledge... have you thought of any innovative ideas recent past..

Round: HR Interview
Experience: In HR they asked 2 situation reaction tests. 1)she asked my hobbies and replied playing cricket... she posed a question to me that if i was appointed as cricket team captain for M-Tech mech team how i select my team.... i answered purely by performance no partiality like that.. but she asked to think more then she answered for the questions as... I alone cannot select the team because in M-Tech there may be more that 500 students so i have to take help from some of my friends and this shows attitude towards team work.... 2) She asked one more question like if i am a boss and there are 5 peoples working under me.. my boss given me one work that has to be completed in with in a month... now it is the last day of month and still 25% of work is remaining how i handle that situation... I answered that I will answer to the boss that from next time i will finish 1 months work in 20 days itself so that we will not be facing this kind of problems next time.. then she told ok....

General Tips: Infosys recruitment wont concentrate too much on technical side... they concentrate on logical and analytical thinking and situation reactions etc... so go through puzzles from shankuntala devi and jimmers... and some analytical and logical sections from RS agarwaal
Dont concentrate on technical questions because they wont ask any technical questions... you must prepare well for the written test and Interview will depend on your logical and analytical thinking and situation reactions.. all the best.. hope i will see you in Infosys next year....

Round: Test
Experience: In email writing one question was given describing the situation and maximum word limit. It has the keywords given to be used. 1 question, 10 minutes.This section is generally used to check your verbal ability. Make sure to use all the keywords given and complete it within time, with no spelling mistakes of course. Missing a keyword or a spelling mistake could be your goodbye to qualified list.The second section had 30 questions of quantitative aptitude. Duration 70 mins. There are questions from various sections, such as Time and speed, Time and distance, Data interpretation,etc.There are 2-3 star marked questions which have more weight-age. There my also be a dummy question who doesn't have any matching answer. Make sure uh don't attempt these questions.26-27 questions is the cut-off for qualified list.But you have to do the email writing part correctly.
Tips: Practice email writing online from various websites such as technicalbaba.com, indiageeks.comPractice quantitative aptitude as it is a must in any interview you will face. you can use R.S.Agarwal or CAT material.

Round: Interview
Experience: Greeting the interviewer is a must. Be confident and enthusiastic. Have your resume properly ready. Technical questions from your subject will be asked. Not a must that you should know any programming language like C, C++, JAVA.
Tips: Prepare 3-4 subjects of your core branch. Never try to flatter the interviewer. Be confident and answer the questions appropriately. Dont say directly " I DON'T KNOW". Atleast try even if you dont know the answer.

Round: Interview
Experience: There are certain questions which doesnt have direct answers. You have to be diplomatic about them. You should be able to see all the possible situation when a question like that is asked.

Round: Interview
Experience: The HR head may manipulate you, try to stress you, etc. Be calm and confident.Think before you speak. Prepare your answers before hand for general questions. Write your introduction on a paper and prepare it well so that you speak it confidently...
Tips: Be yourself. Be confident. Never argue with the interviewer.All the best

General Tips: Be presentable in the interview. Wear a watch. Show respect to the interviewer. Prepare 3-4 technical subjects well. Read last 15 days newspaper. Be confident when you speak. Improve your English if you are weak in it.

Round: Test
Experience: Questions were based on basic maths and english but time duration as per level of questions was very less. I was hardly able to attempt 90 question.
Tips: Firstly attempt questions from the topics in which you are more comfortable. Don't spend much time in thinking.
Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: As I am from statistics background ao they asked me questions from regression and inference in depth. Rest all question were from basic stats. And yes they ask question from everything what is there in your resume.
Tips: Be ready for question from everything what is there in your resume and prepare them in advance.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was easy and hardly last for 10 min
Tips: Be confident on whatever you speak and prepare for general HR questions in advance.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: Its not an elimination round, you can go with your informal clothes on.
Tips: Any one who has prepared for day 1 and day 2 companies will get through this round. Just read news papers and learn to shoot graphs here and there even if it has got absolutely no facts and definitely practice to write a lot. Be prepared with both for and against the topic coz the interviewer keeps changing the topic in between the GD.The topic was same as that of the case study Don’t write bullet-ed points, this makes your cases look small. Try applying your vocabulary spectrum. Try to give exhibits even if you don’t know any facts.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: 12 students on the table, one interviewer.
Tips: Play old school .But don’t wait for your chance, just break into it, but with a gentlemanly attitude. Try giving examples. Throw arbitrary facts to prove your points, if you don’t remember the real figures.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Two interviewee were present.
Tips: Don’t start with your brilliancein your core subject. Tell them you hate your department. Convince them that you won’t ditch them for a Ph.D or an MBA. Tell them you have a friend at Wipro who keeps giving you intel about how great the company is. Look confident and if at times you can be funny, they will appreciate it!!

Skill Tips: 8 and above CGPA is required. Later it was lowered to 7.9, mine was 7.98. They mainly ask HR questions, so being involved in Extra-academic activities gives you more that you can talk of. I had an eye for coding in C++. Helped me on this, but my extra-acads list was enough. Coding was just a bonus. If they are non core its better. But my both the internships were core based. You just have to convince them why you are dropping from core.

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Fundae session by seniors and a resume workshop by some company. Also, sent resume to some seniors for their opinions and I think this was an important part of it.
Tips: I suggest Pre-placement talks, are a must. What is more important is not to believe the PPTs completely and ask seniors about the level of fundaes (finance/tech/otherwise) and preparation required to crack the company. There is a lot of good material on ATKEARNEY and other website. Other than that I used the material available for years.

Round: Interview
Experience: Final offers in my division were 12. There were two levels of case interviews. The first interview was to judge if I would be suitable for the Strategy and Operations profile or for the Technology and Integration profile. There were two interviewers. They explained to me both the profiles and asked me what I wanted to choose and why. Then asked me some general HR questions like why consulting, why you etc. Then started off with an informal case study. It was about a new company which wanted to start a new low cost airline and had no experience in this market till now. It has two options: either to acquire an existing company or to build up all processes on their own. I was first asked to qualitatively mention what all aspects I would consider. After that they asked me what new things could this company do. They were pretty satisfied with my answers and I was confident of getting listed in the next round. In the next round there was single interviewer who was looking quite senior. Asked some HR questions. One case study about a consumer durables dealer which was again qualitative. Asked some HR questions that's it.

General Tips: Lack of interaction with seniors throughout IIT stay was one thing for which I had to pay. I had no seniors in my wing and I had no fundae of the amount of preparation required.
So make sure that you have certain information.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Technical Round:

When my turn came in I walked into the room and Found two people sitting over there. 
Wishing them Good Afternoon i was asked to take my seat and I sat comfortably. This is noted very carefully. I had a eye to eye contact with both of them. I handed over them my certificates for them to go through.

Then my interview started (I gave my resume to him)

Interviewer: Kiran Paul Kani… right..
Me: Yes, its kiran paul kanikaram

Interviewer: Ok Kiran I am dennis voice Trainer at HCL Tech. It seems from the resume that you are working for India Air Force and why do you want to change the Job

Me: Bracing up a little I said I am working with Indian Air Force and because of Family reason I am about to resign the Job and also since I have completed MCA I just wanted to pursue a Technical Job.

Interviewer: Can you give me some more details as to why you want to resign a Government job and join a private one?

Me: Yes, I would. Since I am having a family to look after and with the present job I am unable to keep my family with me and also since my job requires me to be available 24/7, 365 days this was not a problem when I did not have these responsibilities but now it has become compulsion for me to look after and for me I think what’s the use of earning the money and not enjoying them with family.

Interviewer: Ok tell me about yourself?

Me: I told about my schooling and the place I hail from and the job I was doing in brief.

Interviewer: Oh great you could do your Graduation and Post graduation while doing a job and don’t you feel that was difficult while serving the IAF?

Me: Yes, It was difficult but I just wanted to come up in life and I already knew the price I am going to pay and it had taken a lot of hard work but finally I could complete.

Interviewer: Do you know what kind of job you are going to do here in HCL?

Me: Yes, the position I am going to work is for technical process helping customers to get their issues resolved and giving technical support. 

Interviewer: Here is a passage and can you read it for me.

Me: I understood why he was asking so coolly I took time and read it comfortably.

(Now the interviewer showed me his laptop and told me to hear a conversation. I took the head set and listened the conversation)

Interviewer: What was the person trying to tell?
Me: I told him that the person was telling that he wanted a technical issue to be resolved pertaining to his Laptop.

Interviewer: What is the solution you have for him?

Me: I told him the procedure of how to solve his issue.

Interviewer: He smiled at me and said I would like to speak with my friend who wants to ask you about information. He works as a SME (subject Man Expert) and he picked up his cell and connected to that person and handed over me the phone and walked out of the room.

Interviewer: Hello Kiran I am Sam

Me: Hello sam

Interviewer: I work as a SME and hope Dennis told about me

Me: yes

Interviewer: Can you tell me how does a browser work?
Me: I said do you want me to explain the functionality of the browser.
Interviewer: yes
Me: I gave him the information of what he wanted.
Interviewer: can you tell me some thing about cookie and what it does?
Me: I told him the definition of cookie and the role it plays in the Brower functionality
Interviewer: Ok what will you do to change the settings of the browser?
Me: I explained him the process.
Interviewer: Tell me something about registry in windows?
Me: I told about the registry and told him that when ever an application is installed then it is this place that the registry keys are saved and based on this when ever we run the application it will fetch information from here and runs the application.
Interviewer: What happens when these registry keys are deleted or corrupted and how can you delete the registry keys?
Me: If the registry keys are deleted or corrupted then the application may not run or if it runs also it will create problems some  where else and to delete the registry keys we need type in Regedit command in the run window and press enter andthen from the registry window search for the keys to delete and selecting them we need to press delete key .Interviewer: Do you know Computer networks?
Me: Not fully but I have a fair idea 
Interviewer: Ok No issues. Thanks a lot.
Me: thanks a lot and gave back the cell to Dennis.
Interviewer: How was the interaction?
Me: It was good
(Dennis got a call and he typed in some thing in his laptop. I knew it was from sam)
Interviewer: Ok kiran please wait out side will get back to you in a few min.
Me: I said yes and walked out of the room and was little anxious but the people who were waiting outside wanted to inquire why it has taken a lot of time.
After some time Dennis along with Sam came up to the lounge area and called me and spoke to me saying that they were satisfied with my interview and told that they were checking my accent and my technical knowledge and told me that I was selected for this round and need to attend a written technical test and also if I clear there will be a HR round and if cleared will get the appointment letter. Then they handed over a sealed envelop and told me to give to the HR
I was a bit relaxed now and was waiting to go for the next round people around me congratulated. After few min a interview board member accompanied us in the Cab to another facility a few hundred meter away from this facility.
When we came to this facility we were given tags to enter the facility and Pooja came and called me into the cabin.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: HR Round
HR: Good afternoon Kiran and took the packet
Me: I said good Afternoon
HR: Now there will be a written test and that too MCQ type go through the question paper and answer them and you have 30 minutes.
Me: I took the paper and sat in the place assigned and went through the paper and answered them and after the time is up I handed over the answer sheet
HR: Please sit in the waiting room I will be back in few min.Me: I said Ok and waited in the waiting room.
After some time the HR came.
HR: Congrats you cleared the written test 
Me: Thanks 
HR: So you are a defense person and where are you working?
Me: Yes, I am working in Air Force Station Delhi.
HR: So you want to join a pvt organization from a govt organization, don’t you feel that you are loosing security of job?Me: Yes, I want to join a corporate sector since it was a dream for me and I think the circumstance have paved the way for me since I am also not interested to be in Air Force because I am away from my family and also this posting makes it very difficult for me to be with my family and it will be for five years. Secondly I don’t feel any that I am loosing Job security since any how I have to retire after 20 years of service and I have finished 12 years and I cannot justify to my duty if I am not interested. So owing to moral grounds I want to join a pvt organization.
HR: So you think that your family comes first than your job?
Me: It depends on how a person thinks but for me both are important because without money I cannot survive and without a job I cannot earn so I balance both Job and Family and prioritize them.
HR: What is the remuneration you are expecting from us?
ME: I am expecting a good remuneration from you but I would be happy if I am paid as per your organizations standards so that I might not feel that I am left out in comparison with my colleagues. 
HR: Are you willing to work in any shift?
Me: That would not be a problem for me because I have been doing duties in Air Force on the call and 24/7. So I do not have any problems
HR: Ok you may go..Me: I thanked her and walked out of the room.
After an hour the HR came and gave me all the details and told that I got Selected!!!
This gave me the confidence that I can do well in the future.
Though I did not join the Job it was a very good experience for me and it helped me in an interview which I attended in Bangalore in an IT company and which I have joined as a Quality Assurance Lead.

Experience: The aptitude test basically consisted of questions from Data Structures and some other simple algorithms and also on Object Oriented Analysis. The aptitude test was tricky (having negative markings +2/-1 scheme). To cross this test speed and skill are essential.

The next test was a coding exams there were three questions 
1) Given a linked list, link the odd nodes followed by the even nodes in place.
2) Given a dictionary of words find words that are anagrams of each other.
3) Given a binary tree and a node print that node's path from root.
Duration: 95 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: There were 4 rounds of interviews...
the details are as follows
Interview 1 - This interview was basically DS based interview and certain concepts of networking were touched. I
told them that i am interested in data structures and cryptography so most of the questions came from those areas only.
Interview 2 - Was again technical. The interviewer asked me on Data Structures and a Dynamic Programming problem and some other puzzles to solve.
Interview 3 - This was technical but they evaluated the design skills. Asked me on ER diagrams, class diagrams and
database design and system design and some basic questions from OS. 
Interview 4 - This was also a technical interview mainly on problem solving and DS design (how would you design a DS to handle this situation and so on).

Round: HR Interview
Experience: There was no HR interview as such. They were asking questions in tech interviews such as tell me about yourself and so on.

General Tips: Data Structures, OOPS and OS. Solve a variety of problems. All the best!!!

General Tips: Company was very impressed and wanted to make an offer but with a different profile in the interview itself but I was consistent on what I wanted and through strong negotiation finally convinced them that I am fit for Investment banking or global markets and hence that worked
