I applied via campus placement at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Calicut and was interviewed in Nov 2024. There were 2 interview rounds.
"I applied via campus placement First round was an aptitude containing quant, english, logical reasoning and data interpretation (60 mins ,60 questions) plus technical round (30 mins,30 questions) conducted via Aon platform. Aptitude was easy but was a bit lengthy. Technical test was also moderate and covered all topics from mechanical core. After the written test there was a resume shortlisting for people who cleared round one.Prepare ur resume according to the role ur applying. From around 87 members 27 were shortlisted for GD round. ."
They divided us into 4 groups and group discussion went on for around 20 mins my topic was (Are ev vehicle's an efficient solution for pollution). In gd round listen to the topic carefully. Don't hesitate to put ur thoughts first donot interfere while other is speaking listen to them and put ur thoughts in a politeful way , mostly stick to the topic. After 20 mins the recruiters asked me to summarise the topic and i gave a brief summary keeping everyone's and my thoughts in mind. After GD 9 members were selected for the interview.Gd and interview happened on the same day.

Clouds move due to the combination of wind, temperature, and pressure differences in the atmosphere.
Clouds are carried along by the wind in the atmosphere.
Temperature differences cause air to rise or sink, affecting cloud movement.
Pressure variations also play a role in cloud motion.
For example, warm air rising from the ground can create cumulus clouds that move with the wind.
Space is empty due to the extremely low density of matter and the vast distances between objects.
Space is mostly empty because of the low density of matter in the universe.
The vast distances between celestial bodies also contribute to the emptiness of space.
Even though space is not completely empty and contains various particles and radiation, it is considered a vacuum due to the low density of matter.
Gases in the atmosphere do not separate out according to mass due to the constant mixing caused by wind and turbulence.
Constant mixing caused by wind and turbulence prevents gases from separating based on mass
Gravity also plays a role in keeping gases well-mixed in the atmosphere
Different gases have different molecular weights but are still evenly distributed in the atmosphere
The atmosphere gradually thins out as altitude increases, eventually merging into outer space.
The atmosphere is composed of several layers, with the exosphere being the outermost layer before transitioning into space.
The Kármán line, located at an altitude of 100 km (62 miles) above sea level, is often considered the boundary between Earth's atmosphere and outer space.
Beyond the Kármán line, the atmosphere becomes extr...
Air mainly contains water vapor due to the evaporation of water bodies, plants, and human activities.
Water vapor is the most abundant gas in the atmosphere due to evaporation from oceans, lakes, rivers, and plants.
Other vapors like alcohol, gasoline, or perfume are present in the air but in much lower concentrations compared to water vapor.
Water vapor is constantly being added to the air through processes like transpir...

The 2nd law of thermodynamics states that the total entropy of an isolated system can never decrease over time.
Entropy of a system tends to increase over time
Heat energy naturally flows from hot to cold objects
Efficiency of energy conversion processes is limited by the 2nd law
Kelvin-Planck and Clausius statements are two fundamental principles of thermodynamics.
Kelvin-Planck statement: It is impossible to construct a device that operates in a cycle and produces no effect other than the extraction of heat from a single reservoir and the performance of an equivalent amount of work.
Clausius statement: It is impossible to construct a device that operates in a cycle and produces no effect other ...

Putting diesel in SI engine and petrol in CI engine would lead to inefficient combustion and potential damage to the engines.
Diesel is designed to be used in compression ignition (CI) engines, which rely on high compression ratios to ignite the fuel. Using diesel in a spark ignition (SI) engine would result in incomplete combustion and poor performance.
Petrol is designed for use in spark ignition (SI) engines, which re...
CI engines use compression ignition while SI engines use spark ignition.
CI engines compress air to high pressures, causing the fuel to ignite spontaneously
SI engines use spark plugs to ignite the fuel-air mixture
CI engines are more fuel efficient but produce more emissions
Examples of CI engines include diesel engines, while SI engines include gasoline engines

Capacitors are electronic components used to store and release electrical energy in circuits.
Capacitors store electrical energy in an electric field
They are used to filter out noise in electronic circuits
Capacitors can help regulate voltage levels in circuits
Common types include ceramic, electrolytic, and tantalum capacitors
Power factor (PF) measures the efficiency of electrical power usage. Higher PF is better as it indicates less wasted energy.
Higher PF means more efficient use of electrical power
Lower PF results in wasted energy and higher electricity bills
Ideal PF is close to 1, indicating maximum efficiency
Transformers are classified based on criteria such as cooling method, voltage level, and application.
Cooling method (oil-immersed, dry-type)
Voltage level (distribution, power, instrument)
Application (power, distribution, instrument, auto-transformer)
Types of losses in transformer include copper losses and iron losses.
Copper losses: caused by resistance in the copper windings of the transformer, resulting in heat generation.
Iron losses: caused by hysteresis and eddy currents in the transformer core, leading to energy loss in the form of heat.
Total losses: sum of copper losses and iron losses in a transformer.
