Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw
I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - The company's interview experience was not positive at all, it felt like a complete waste of time. It seems that, regardless of your strong technical background, they propritize candidates from finance background. They repeatedly ask that if you're willing to learn finance, but even if you agree they might still reject your application in the final round, It seems like they go through all the interview rounds just to make it look like they are working hard to find the right fit, but in the end, it's disappointing. I wouldn't recommend any B.Tech graduate who aren't from a finance background and value their technical skills to go through this interview process. It feels like a trap, and you might end up feeling discouraged and questioning your abilities. Overall, the hiring process seems quite unfair.
