In the 90's, notice periods in India were 30 days. Then someone decided 60 days was better. Not long after, it became 90 days. Why? To make leaving harder. In the US, it’s often 15 days. In some states, you can walk out anytime. So, why are we Indians obsessed with long notice periods? The truth: it’s about controlling exits. But it backfired—big time. Long notice periods encourage offer shopping. Companies retaliated by hiring only those already serving notice. And just like that, a talent war began. Only Shorter Notice periods can solve this, and brands like Blinkit are moving in the right direction. What do you think, is a 90 day notice period justified?

Hello all, I have 2 years of experience and it's for both voice and non voice process. I recently left a company where my package was 4.5lpa And joined ADP where my package is 5.8lpa. First thing first, I was hired on a contract basis for 6 months. Then there is no food facility, the cab takes more than an hour to arrive and we just wait for it, at times my shift ends at 2:30am and I will be still in the office waiting for the cab till 5:30am in the morning. After completing one month now they are saying that whatever leaves I took in the first month the amount for it will be deducted from my upcoming salary which is more than 12k, they did not inform us prior to that, that we are supposed to take only one leave in a month and that rest will be unpaid leaves. There is no sick leave, since I am in contact there is no insurance. I want to change company, but I am getting the maximum package as 4.8-5lpa. I want to ask what you guys do in such a situation? Please share your thoughts.

Confused!

So I've been with my current company since 3 years 10 months, and compared to my peers with same experience, in the same domain, they seem to have better packages, better teams. Agreed that since some of them have changed companies (more that once) there would be a significant bump in their payscale. I feel I have hit a deadend for me, not sure how to get interview calls from elsewhere and at the same time this company of mine is way to frugal with the hikes and bonuses (even though the client/peer feedback is good) always get reasons like company isnt doing well this quarter, or your certifications are missing (its always some xyz reason). Need suggestions as what i should be planning on from next year, what am i missing?

Thoughts on offer transparency

I had a discussion with HR for a renegotiation & as expected, it was quite a tense conversation. They asked why didn't u raise this sooner when u were raising a request for another accommodation as well? Because then it would have been all sorted in one go. I honestly understand their concern but from my pov I didn't have an offer at that point, not even a verbal one & I didn't want to risk saying I am expecting an offer in a few weeks. How would I know if company would take it well & really accommodate to wait for that long? It's easier said than done. I feel it's very sensitive for a candidate to reveal this information & while I understand that transparency is imp but what if the company revokes offer because it thinks u are considering it as an option & not a target company? Then there are some HRs who say we can only go ahead if u are sure that u don't expect a better offer in future & that u are really committed. Idk how to navigate thru such conversations. Any thoughts?

My negotiation call with company A will be next week where I already have an offer in hand I will use to negotiate. However I will most probably get another offer from company B after the 2nd interview next week. It will still take some more time though. Can I renegotiate Company A's offer with B's offer after accepting it? I have been working at one of the companies for the last 5 years as a dsm. This is a mixed sales & marketing role, focused on backend tasks. In short, the job profile covers activities from many dep.. salary is 36k, and I earn an additional 7k through side hustles. I have received another offer with a 30% salary hike. My manager told that he would talk to the management about a raise, but for the last 6-7 months, he has been giving me vague responses and not providing clarity about whether a raise will happen. Pros - Time 9 AM to 5:30 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break. - No targets. - Office is only 14 km from my home(own). - No fieldwork - On-time salary - work culture is ok ok Cons - No significant salary growth (7-8% annually). - Limited opportunities for learning. - work culture depends on the manager's mood. - Newcomers are getting 52% to 60% higher salaries with less experience than me at my company. Sometimes I think that if I don't switch, I will fall behind in race.

Hello all, I recently applied for Amazon kdp support analyst role And gave the assessment I received an email saying that the compensation ranges from 3.8lpa to 4.25lpa My last CTC was 4.4lpa and now In ADP it is 5.8lpa, do you think I will get a decent hike of 30-40%? Will they agree? I have an offer from regalix for 5lpa, but since it's sales I don't want to join. Will they consider if I show my offers and try to negotiate? I am hoping for at least 5.5lpa, to quit ADP. But I don't think they'll go anything above 5lpa? And I am not even good at negotiation. How do I tackle this situation? Please guide me!
