Thoughts on offer transparency
I had a discussion with HR for a renegotiation & as expected, it was quite a tense conversation. They asked why didn't u raise this sooner when u were raising a request for another accommodation as well? Because then it would have been all sorted in one go.
I honestly understand their concern but from my pov I didn't have an offer at that point, not even a verbal one & I didn't want to risk saying I am expecting an offer in a few weeks. How would I know if company would take it well & really accommodate to wait for that long? It's easier said than done. I feel it's very sensitive for a candidate to reveal this information & while I understand that transparency is imp but what if the company revokes offer because it thinks u are considering it as an option & not a target company?
Then there are some HRs who say we can only go ahead if u are sure that u don't expect a better offer in future & that u are really committed. Idk how to navigate thru such conversations. Any thoughts?

Rather than focusing on the negative aspects of considering other offers, highlight the benefits it could bring to the company. For example, you could mention that exploring other options has helped you appreciate the unique value proposition of your current company.

Mastering the art of effective communication is akin to any other skill; it requires consistent practice, reflection, improvement, and repetition. Diplomacy, in particular, is a skill that can be learned and developed over time. While some individuals may possess a natural aptitude for diplomacy, it's important to recognize that even they have likely gained experience through interactions with strict parents, relatives, teachers, and other authority figures during their upbringing.
An effective strategy for enhancing your diplomatic skills is to engage in role-playing exercises with a trusted friend, spouse, or partner. By simulating various scenarios, such as acting as an HR representative or negotiating for a location change, work-from-home arrangement, or salary increase, you can practice adapting your communication style to different situations and refining your negotiation techniques.

All these discussions are just gyaan ki baate. This is not the first time it has happened to the HR, they only do this to make you feel guilty. Gyaan ka response is always gyaan, you tell them "We should all be evolving continuously". To the some HRs who say if you're sure always say yes, then give them the new offer received, they will still renegotiate.
