The Bank is the best place to become a multitasker in financial world be it routine banking, marketing of various financial products, foreign exchange, treasury, trainer in in house learning centres etc. There is ample opportunities for right people to climb the ladder to various executive positions in short span of service. The cross section of employees drawn from various parts of the country with different culture make the working environment enjoyable. The compensation at entry level is one of the best in the industry. The Bank has well laid down reward and recognition policy to add to employees stickiness. The seniors are always committed for the development of human resources even making their hands dirty to work with juniors. Work life balance is an issue to take as a challenge. Of late, the Bank has introduced few initiatives to address the isssue.

It’s really challenging working in various assignment in the Bank. As leader, one need to create an atmosphere where employees will leave office exhausted but feel energetic to come back next morning.

Nothing to like really. You just get stuck in doing monotonous job

Dislikes

No learnings at all. Work culture is miserable. Asking to not come on a public holiday leads to targetting by your boss. No compensation for working on holidays. One has to work for 10-12 hours Monday to Saturday. You are asked to do work outside bank guidelines and no risk allowance/security assurance is given.

Domination by Unions and Associations. Weak Management. Dancing to the tunes of Unions and Associations in Postings, Placement, Transfers. Office bearers were either given non-priority roles or free from work, accountability, transfers but extending all benefits and allowing Dadagiri.

There is no work life balance . Lot of work pressure and no sympathy towards staff. Frequent transfers to diffrent locations and high pressure of achieving targets

They call it Sarkari work culture, colloquially, in Indian workplaces. Bureaucratic work culture, i.e. They have 22000+ Branches in all sorts of creepy places imaginable in the country, for the sake of being Banker to every Indian. Most employees are ordinary graduates with zero to minus pedigree and compensate for their lack of Brains by showing bossism. Worst part is that the organisation is filled to the very core with मादरचोद Biharis, and they are in the process of, and eventually completely destroy whatever good is left in it. Targets are reality of all jobs in this country, but SBI was earlier known for being a little better in terms of bending rules to achieve them.
